Well...Bernie just dropped out.

Yeah, we could all see that coming, Sanders fate was basically sealed when he lost Michigan.  It sucks, especially because as a New Yorker, I didn’t even get to vote in this primary, because this our primary system is so fucking stupid and the notion that Iowa gets more say over the primary system than New York is an insult.  

So the it sucks and i’m not happy.  The good news is that in running, Sanders and Warren did manage to pull the party as a whole significantly to the left, and managed to inject a lot of left wing ideas into the discourse which should make it easier for us in 2024/2028.  

The goal now is to vote in 2020, and try to figure out what went wrong with the Sanders campaign so we can do better next time

The Primary System

The neuroscientist teaching my class today referred to the Central Nervous System as the primary system of the human body, and classified all other organ systems as support systems. This is nice and all, but didn't seem quite right to me.

From a evolutionary perspective, I would say that the digestive system is likely the closest to qualifying as the primary organ 'system' as we define them. I would also say that the development of intelligence in a species is just another method to better help them hunt prey; humankind's stumble onto self-awareness was just a side-effect.

So now I'm viewing my consciousness as software running on a support system of a biological shit-producing machine. Fantastic. Also, the jury is still out on why I'm depressed.
