I do have questions about Liege Doomveil, but first off:

As a huge Hymenoptera fan, I *love* the way you draw Pollendara's bees. They don't quite look like real bees, they don't look like other cartoon bees, but they're simultaneously both adorable and buggy. It's especially cute the way they lounge around and cling to people. And speaking of pets, Harbinger isn't bad either. I imagine he feels like a big fat seal

Anyways, two questions, if you want to answer them outside the comic:

Is Hazel interested in Liege despite all the knives and marauding, or is that part of it for her?

And how come Ruby doesn't seem to hold anything against Liege, but Victor acts like he hates his guts? Is there an actual serious history behind that, or does Victor just like having a designated punching bag?

Hi, thank you so much! I am enthusiastic about bugs/etc, and while I do go for a simplified design, I'm glad it still reads as enjoyable to another bug fan. I sort of stumbled into two different schools of design for Arthropod-types in the story, and knew that the Messenger Bees (and anyone else from Pollendara) needed to read differently from the Spiders, Flies and Man Moths over in Neitherglow. Harbinger is definitely more a Pokemon-ification of the creature in Tremors with a heavy hit from the 80's/90's Saturday Morning Cartoon Sword & Sorcification Beam that everything else has, haha.

Regarding Hazel: I think she had mostly good intentions while also Wanting Attention (and searching for a deterrent…). Hazel's even got a bit of naivety, having seen Ruby be a part of this conflict for years without ever seeming like she was ever in real danger, and have a skewed perspective.

Regarding Ruby, Victor and Liege: Victor doesn't LIKE being Victor, but loves to be Crimsonheart. Victor can't be really be Crimsonheart without someone to protect, and he can't protect someone if they're not in danger. He'd tell you he doesn't "hate" anyone, and does probably think of himself as matching Liege's energy as a rival.

Ruby and Liege are both being taken for granted for the role they play in that equation, and up to this point, Ruby's been trying to be complacent and mindful of her goals and upbringing as a peacekeeping pacifist. Liege has SOME motivation for keeping at it, while also entirely being The Problem, and refusing to step down or stop. Picture, if you will: Liege and Ruby saying "I feel sorry for you" to each other at the same time with completely different intonation.
