I want to be a little bit of an unserious/light-hearted hater for a moment and confess that I don’t like Redtail because the amount of attention he gets annoys me. 

Imo Redtail’s character is actually on caliber with the likes of Mistmouse, Leafshade, or Cloudpelt. Characters that when you hear their name, it makes you pause for a moment like, “Wait. Who?” But the reason that it doesn’t annoy me when Mistmouse, Leafshade, or Cloudpelt or the like gets attention is because Mistmouse, Leafshade, and Cloudpelt fans know that their blorbo is obscure and not that important. So when I see those characters getting love I just think: “Good for them. That person must have developed those characters in some cool way in order to latch onto them like that.” 

But when Redtail gets attention, I feel like it’s usually presented like: “this guy was actually so important!!!” But the truth is, Redtail just isn’t all that important. His death is important, but his character is not. He doesn’t even really have much of a character at all. Redtail was simply blessed in that fact that he happened to die within the first 5 pages of the first book of the first arc, so everyone who picked up a Warriors book happens to remember him. And I think we as a fandom should acknowledge that lol

Kinglet-tuft is a dilute tortoiseshell with unkempt fur and amber eyes. Kinglet-tuft is an excitable cat. They insist they don't need to groom because their wild fur actually helps them blend into the environment better. It's kinda amazing how exposing myself to the most rancid parts of this fandom has turned me into an avid Nightcloud defender, when I didn't particularly care about her before. Like, she was just a character that existed and nothing more.

But the level of slander she receives is bizarre. Like, "Nighcloud uses her son as an attack dog against people she doesn't like". Like... where do you get that? Fuck, I wish she was like that. I wish she was as mean to Crow as you claim she was, lad.

Anyway, she should hit Crowfeather over the head with some hammers 🔨🔨🔨

On a similar note, my distaste for Shadowsight also grows day by day, from a equally neutral starting point. Again, thanks to certain parts of the fandom.

i can’t say midnight as a villain would be better or worse but it would definitely be more interesting and i think would tie pot and oots together in a fascinating way. her motivations would be pretty clear and sympathetic considering the clans forced the badgers from their home. was her stopping leaf and crow from eloping an attempt to prevent the three’s birth, knowing they would be fated to apprehend her? would make a lot more sense why she gave so much information to sol and why he returned in oots. could potentially elaborate on her relationship to rock and the clans and provide a much clearer reason for incorporating jay’s time travel/the backstory of the ancients. was the lake also the ancestral home of the badgers, did the two groups once live there as intertwined neighbors? is midnight to the badgers what rock is to the clans? what’s her relationship with starclan? imagine if warrior cats was good

she helped the cats on the journey, perhaps all she wanted was to bring back the clans to their original home, so that the twin groups could be reunited around the lake they once shared. but these aren’t the ancients, the cats she knew from that distant past—these are the clans, unrecognizable in their bloodthirst and their insatiable hunger for territory and control. she brought these cats back to once again stand side by side in peace and companionship—spiritually connected by the tunnels and the lake and the moonpool—only to look on in horror as they killed and chased out her brethren. she made a grave mistake, and only seeks to undo the harm she caused.

my favourite thing about every warrior cats fan who is the number one stan of some random unimportant background character is that almost without fail they will be convinced that their guy has right of succession. they’ll have a whole au where secretly their fave character is the main character of warriors holding the whole story together and it will be convincing as HELL and you’ll go fuck….. smallear should have been the one to save thunderclan you’re right….. I eat it up every time
