Carburundum grit aquatint collagraph, in 60 seconds! I love collagraph for the ability to make prints from trash--the technology is easy, leaving room to master subtleties of image making instead of focusing on complex chemistry. This is a process where you create a collagraph plate and print using evenly sized grit and wood glue. The glued down bits of grit grab onto and hold ink, and the glossy gloss releases it. It's a similar effect to aquatint, an etching process. The actual running through the press happens off screen. I haven't done this process in years, so it was fun to get back to it. I made this to teach someone and the finished video is a bit longer, but here's a version that fits in a shorter format

Working on some designs for some new risograph prints :) the first one is just a different colorway of my ginkgo illustration and the second is a new drawing! I think I may do a little tea postcard series if I can finish a few more illustrations :)

Немного печатного процесса на примере нанесения одноцветного рисунка на хлопковую сумку. На самом деле я обычно печатаю не по одной штуке как тут, а по нескольку экземпляров сразу, что логично.

Как можно заметить, подготовительные танцы с бубном вокруг экрана составляют значительную часть работы, и это еще тут нет про экспонирование и, конечно же, про мытье всего и вся. То есть чтобы произошло самое вкусное, это когда ты берешь ракель и вжух! – получится отпечаток, надо еще много чего сделать.

Но я в этом нахожу свой особый прикол. Это как в путешествии – не только пункт прибытия, но и дорога имеет значение.

My favourite piece of my third year at uni. The irony is that it had nothing to do with my uni work, I just designed it because I got obsessed with Fela Kuti! I suppose it’s proved to me that I should always create work when I get that spark of passion.

I first found out about Eric after hearing his interview on @aidpodcast, and was delighted to see this job come in just a few months later. 18x24, 6 colors.
