Your upbringing is not your fault. You cannot help the kind of society you were brought up in. If I hear one more person give me shit and tell me I have “no reason to be sad because you were brought up in a home where both parents were together and had money to care for you” I’m going to lose it. Mental illnesses don’t care how you were raised, or the privileges you had. I’m very grateful that I was raised by two parents that loved me and were able to pay for things that I wanted/needed, and I understand that not everyone had that. But having those things doesn’t make the things I struggle with any less real. Unless you are in someone’s mind and can feel exactly what they feel and see exactly what they’re going through, you need to shut the fuck up and mind your own damn business.
