Neopronoun culture is telling someone that you use any pronouns, but having to specify that neoss are okay as well, and are included in "any". Then they call you your agab pronouns exclusively.
For the PR ask game: 19, 4, 5 and 6 for the Ninja Storm and Mystic Force teams 👀
19. What’s something you wished happened in canon (can be a long-shot or something that could have happened)?
For OG Ninja Storm trio, I wish we got more of their evolution into being masters/teachers. I don't hate their ending that way, but compared to our other big martial arts-focused season, I feel like the point A to point B of that journey wasn't as clear beyond the normal "being a ranger forces you to mature." I also wish we got to see more of their personal lives outside the academy + their jobs. Where did they come from? How did they end up at a ninja school?
For the Bradley brothers... I want more of their time being evil. I want to see their uneasy alliances and the way Lothor tricks them and what has to be said to make them think a rival ninja academy would do this. And for them, I *also* want to see how they ended up at the Thunder school, how they ended up adopted, etc. More of their backstories! I feel like PR uses "they're adopted" a lot to explain casting decisions that they don't want to put any extra thought into.
Cam... I don't know, I kinda wish there was more agonizing on his end after he finds out that Lothor + Marah/Kapri are his family. His whole journey to becoming a ranger is excellent, one of my favorite parts of the series, but finding out the guy who has been trying to kill you, and you've been trying to kill him in return, for months, is actually your uncle?? And those weird girls are your cousins? We needed so much more angst about that. What if the same thing could happen to him? If his own family is that easy to tempt, what's stopping him? He's already not an "ideal" ranger, so what if he's one bad day away from turning too?
For the Mystics... hoo boy, I could write an entire thesis on the things that *should've* happened in canon. Give us Nick's sister! Give us the other Mystics' families! Give us more background on the Great Battle and who the Morlocks are and who was fighting against them. Give us Udonna and Clare's grief over losing EVERYONE. Give us more Madison focus!! She's such an interesting character and I will say it til I'm blue in the face, she and Vida are more alike than anyone believes. Vida got to have her arc with Matoombo revealing her secret soft side; let Madison have an arc where she finally explodes and tears someone a new one. She deserves it.
Expand more on Xander's comments about being bullied when he moved to the USA. Focus more on Chip's self-sacrificial tendencies. Let Udonna's grief feel real. Let Clare be a ranger!!!!
4. What’s a random headcanon you have for this character?
Shane: avid bird-watcher. Accidentally got really into it during long ninja training days where he had to sit perfectly still in the woods and meditate/meld with the surroundings. Has a whole little moleskin notebook he takes on missions now, just in case.
Tori: grew up in a deaf household, but isn't deaf herself. Knows ASL. It never really comes up but that's part of what attracted her to being a ninja - (relative) silence comes natural to her.
Dustin: listens to super heavy, aggro music. If you pop off his headphones at any given time, it's more likely than not the most driving rhythmic metal and he's listening with a huge grin on his face. He says it calms him down.
Hunter: super sensitive to smells. Blake calls him a bloodhound with the way he can track down a scent from just a whiff.
Blake: loves reading historical non-fiction. Hunter calls them "dad books" because it's always something about ancient Greek naval battles or the history of Viking metallurgy, the kinds of books "only old guys read".
Cam: the angriest knitter you've ever met. If you find him somewhere with a ball of yarn, or hear the rapid-fire clicking on his needles, you know to steer clear because he's working out some rage.
-
Nick: some people might've heard me say this one already, but his adoptive parents are Australian and Indian-American. His mom is 4th gen American with Punjabi-Bengali parents, but his dad is straight up from Sydney. He never bothers telling anyone this, mainly because they never ask.
Madison: she loves the gnarliest horror movies you've never seen. If the blood splatter looks like corn syrup dyed red and all the effects are practical, she's probably seen it.
Vida: she did ballet classes for a while as a kid, but eventually drifted to more modern styles. Now she's on the dance squad at school and can pick up basically any dance in an hour or less.
Xander: huge rugby fan. Will stay up into the wee hours to watch games live from Oz.
Chip: can befriend basically any animal, given enough time. Vida calls it his Disney Princess Charm.
Udonna: everyone assumes she's a tea-drinker, but she's a fiend for coffee when she can get it. She takes it black and scalding hot.
Daggeron: under his robes, he's absolutely covered in tattoos, all traditional ones that represent his accomplishments and journeys, some of which he did for himself because no one else in the Woods can do them to his liking.
Leanbow: he's the bigger pushover between him and Udonna. He looks more intimidating on account of the RBF, but it's actually very easy to push/bully him into things if you make a decent argument.
5. If this character had to be on a different team, what team would you want them to be on?
I think Shane, Tori, and Dustin would all be a fun swap with the JF trio. Give them RJ as a mentor and I'd be fascinated to see how they turn out. Blake and Hunter should not be separated, and I want to see how their motocross-himbo energy blends with the first team, so I want to plop them into Turbo, pre-handoff. Cam... I want to send him to live with MMPR-era Billy. They could've invented us out of the entire war with the United Alliance of Evil. That or Lost Galaxy, because I think he would get along with Kai/Damon/Kendrix and get to relax a bit when surrounded with people who are taking things a bit more seriously.
I feel bad doing it, but I'd send Nick to RPM. I think his "we don't have to like it but it needs done" attitude and general bike skills would be a boon over there. Plus I want to see him and Dillon get into a Mysterious Stranger with Emotional Distance-off. Madison joining the Ninja Storm gang would be great, I think she and Tori would be fast friends. Same for Vida, I think she'd thrive with a new set of himbos. Chip joins OO - he'd love being an adventurer like Indiana Jones, and I think he would be an excellent friend to Mack. Xander would be a great fit with the Dino Charge team, I think? Headcanons around he and Chase being cousins aside, I think his goofball energy fits right in. He'd be flirting with everyone there within a day.
Longer shot, but Udonna and Leanbow go to Dino Fury. I just think there's a lot of interesting synergy there with the ancient wars and parents-as-villains. Plus Amelia would geek the fuck out over two literal sorcerers on her team. Daggeron... is tougher. Maybe Wild Force? He can be the sun to Merrick's moon and lean into a griffon/big cat vibe.
6. What’s a random thing you associate this character with (can be a piece of media, another character, a random object, song, etc)?
For the Ninja Storm team in general, it's two movies: Rad! and BMX Bandits. Absolute dogwater movies from back when motocross was a fringe-ish sport, but in a campy, goofy way that reminds me of our ninja dorks. For Cam, though, it's energy drinks. The concept of energy drinks. I think they were a sort of nascent thing back when NS was on the air (Red Bull was around but that was more like... for businessmen at the grind or truckers who needed to stay up at any cost). But I think Cam would've gone nuts for them during days-long coding binges.
I've mentioned already, but for Madison, it's the world's most forgotten horror movies. Shot-on-video slashers from Nowhere, Utah, always make me think "oh she'd love this, look at that papier-mache head exploding." With Nick, it's more like... dad metal. Mercyful Fate, Pentagram, etc. More abstract, unique flavor combos always make me think Chip. Gummy bear brats, peanut butter curry ice cream, tomato beer, the more unexpected, the more I think "yeah that's something he'd try." For Xander, it's ukeleles - he played one once in an episode and it feels like such a time capsule of 2006, when the ukelele was just starting to explode as *thee* twee instrument. And Vida... it's the movie But I'm a Cheerleader. Maybe it's the comphet and the overwhelming pinkness.
For Udonna, it's just videos of extreme winter weather. Always makes me think of what they could've done with her powers and never really did. Daggeron is easy, it's surfing videos. I imagine he used to be a big surfer, before he moved to the landlocked woods. Leanbow is harder, but there's a Bloodywood song, Yaad, that feels very Udonna/Leanbow coded to me.
