Here is a list of things that might make me more likely to "have more babies" as per the White House's request. (Granted, I am probably not who they want to have more babies, but regardless.)
Increased federal funding for pregnancy research and symptom treatment options.
Access to affordable, accessible fertility treatments, including IVF.
Paid work leave in the case of pregnancy complications.
Free or equity-based subsidized cost for the birth, of my/my partner's choice, including the hospital, birthing center, home birth, etc.
Access to free abortion/assisted miscarriage should something go wrong during the birthing process.
At least 6 months, if not a year, of paid work leave for me and my partner both after the birth.
Access to food stamps and other assistance programs should we need them.
Free or equity-based subsidized cost for childcare once we go back to work, where the child has a guaranteed spot, and the carers are educated and paid fairly.
Free, quality healthcare for the child.
Free, quality educational opportunities for the child, including accommodations if the child is disabled.
Shorter work days/weeks for my partner and I, so we can spend time with our child.
Cost effective housing.
Increased protections for LGBTQ+ youth in schools.
Educational systems that prioritize honest conversations about history and marginalized communities.
Open access to contraceptives.
Things that do not make me want to have more kids:
$5,000, which doesn't even pay for the birth.
A medal, a la Hitler and Stalin.
I HATE the online conversation around unmedicated births. Those who chose or could not do an unmedicated birth immediately flip the conversation around to "you want a gold star for doing an unmedicated birth?" I've seen this dialogue constantly, I will say mainly online and in forums though. It's like, why can't a woman be proud of her accomplishment? Heaven forbid you do something that really isn't the norm in our society right now and are proud of it.

What the fuck is wrong with people?
A woman, a black woman, who was a nurse who had a DNR request, is kept on life support while braindead because she was 9 weeks pregnant.
Recently, her body has began to rot, and the baby was born prematurely due to this. The baby is now in the NICU when it shouldn't have even been born in the first place, as the body it was growing in couldn't provide for it.
So now where is this family in life?
The mother is dead. Her young son has lost his mother and is traumatized for life after having to see her in the state the hospital kept her in.
The family is most likely in extreme medical debt, both from the woman being kept on life support for so long and now this baby being in the NICU with no way of knowing if it will survive.
Will this family receive any support to pay it off? When this woman was kept "alive" against her wishes? When the family has no choice or say in the matter?
No, of course not. Even though the state chose to keep her alive for the sake of the fetus, they will still pass on the debt to the family.
And what of the baby? Will this baby even survive? Will they grow to have disabilities from being incubated in a corpse as a sick experiment?
Will the family receive any support for raising this baby, disabilities or not?
No, of course not. Because once the fetus is born the state doesn't care anymore. If they decide to give the baby up for adoption, because they can't afford to accommodate the baby should it be disabled, they will no doubt be shamed endlessly.
Will the young boy receive any support or counseling to process this situation? How the state forced him to witness his mother on life support, unable to interact with him? How his mother was used as an experiment? How this goes way beyond just losing his mother?
No, of course not. The focus was never on the boy or his mother, only the fetus she was carrying. This black boy will grow up troubled and misunderstood and scrutinized for his mental state.
How is any of this pro-life?
How is any of this God's will?
This is medical malpractice, this is the manipulation of a non-white family for the sake of what is essentially a parasite.
I hope this family sues the hospital and the state. I hope they find the best lawyer possible who will do it for free. I hope they win their case and bankrupt everyone who put them through this awful, sickening, blasphemous situation.
