Lindsay Graham dies and is replaced by his sister, who has zero experience in government.
A lack of standards and accountability as well as blatant nepotism is not something that should exist in our government.
"Tattoos are becoming unpopular", "piercings are unpopular again", "keep your hair natural never dye it again, it's the trend now" literally fuck off I know what y'all are doing
my brother and I get on bandcamp and click on songs from the live updating list of albums that are selling and we listen to 30 seconds or so of a song and if we like it we add it to a playlist. and we call this "foraging for music."
anyways one of terminology we have coined to talk about music is "Knee Music" which is derived from the fact that album covers that show a person's knees tend to sound the same as each other. It's kind of a sleepy, grungy indie folk pop sound with youthful-sounding, vocals that affect a candid and vulnerable feeling.
or anyway we found multiple album covers with knees in quick succession, and they all sounded the same, hence "Knee Music"
but it doesn't have to be knees to be Knee Music. any kind of blurry, candid-looking photos that include skinny white people is likely to be knee music
My other brother's method of foraging for music is slightly more complicated: he gets on everynoise and uses random number generators to get a random genre, a random artist, and then a random song from that artist.
For a while, his method was slightly different, instead choosing a random genre and listening to it until he found a song from that genre that he liked.
However, this could be very time-consuming. once he became trapped for a long time in "geek rap" which was mostly a lot of people rapping in potentially spanish or portuguese (?) about Five Nights at Freddy's
My brother and I have a rating system where we rate songs on a scale of 1 to 7, where 1 is absolute dogshit and 7 is the best song ever.
The challenge in this is that even if a song isn't particularly pleasant to listen to, novelty will increase the rating, because it's something interesting we haven't heard before. So, it's incredibly difficult for a song to get the lowest rating, because a song that is outstandingly bad has something different about it to make it bad, which paradoxically makes it good.
We had a very hard time rating this song, Burial Etiquette- Ivy Staircase in Ruin. We both disliked it, but we had never disliked a song in this way. The harsh vocals are so far to the background and relatively quiet that it's like, a kind of generic song but there's a guy screaming incoherently somewhere in the next room
We didn't like the harsh vocals, but we also thought they should raise the rating of the song because they made it weirder. We ultimately didn't settle on a rating at all for it.
We both agree that the best random song we found is Butcher Brown- No Way Around It. It is groovy and makes you want to dance, with a unique style.
The genre is Funk, so we looked into funk some more, but it turns out that funk is not very popular anymore and it was popular mostly in the 1970s.
Only one other random song we rated with a 7, which is Thrailkill- Cattywampus.
Those are the two songs we rated with a 7. I haven't counted up how many songs we rated yet, but the ratings suggest that an excellent song is hard to find...
The random songs we rated with a 6 are these. a 6 rating means it is a really good song that we would listen to again and again but not the most excellent song possible

I should not have to be put in a position where I can’t relate to other trans people or believe my input is useless because i’m intersex
Consider intersex people in your trans activism or else
Really super weird how people will be like "Everything was so good in the 50s! Everyone should have a nuclear family! I wish men worked and women stayed home! Those were the good ol' days!" and then in the next sentence they'll be like "Ugh, dadgum government putting everything in plastic, it's like they're trying to kill us or something."
I didn't know making america healthy again included giving everyone explosive diarrhea? 🤔
I live a very balanced life of noticing things nobody else does and not noticing the things that literally everybody notices
seeing young trans men saying how they feel so “validated” by people telling them to kill themselves because “at least they see me as a man” is actually so fucking sad. 15 year old trans boy you do not deserve to be treated like a monster because of the words you use for yourself and the goals you have for your body. you do not need to accept this kind of treatment from your own community in order to prove that you’re not a threat. you are a person. you are a person
We need to lay more blame for "Kids don't know how computers work" at the feet of the people responsible: Google.
Google set out about a decade ago to push their (relatively unpopular) chromebooks by supplying them below-cost to schools for students, explicitly marketing them as being easy to restrict to certain activities, and in the offing, kids have now grown up in walled gardens, on glorified tablets that are designed to monetize and restrict every movement to maximize profit for one of the biggest companies in the world.
Tech literacy didn't mysteriously vanish, it was fucking murdered for profit.
Linux is a very good and powerful alternative.
reminder: you cannot Personal Choises your way out of an Intentional Structural Problem
Fun fact! School Chromebooks block Linux. It's not an easy alternative. You are missing the point
Apple was doing this before Google. Before Chromebooks it was Apple shaking down educational institutions to make them buy macbooks for students at an industrial scale. Before that they were pushing Apple IIs into classrooms, then iMacs. More useful due to Apple not being entirely enshittified at the time but it was done for the explicit reason of making most people's first experience with a computer be with an Apple computer to increase familiarity and raise the purchase rate of their products for that generation. It largely worked and has remained mostly uncriticized. Google just followed that same playbook and was able to undercut them due to their computers being even more giant pieces of shit and being even less interested in actually providing useful computing infrastructure for teachers and students. And it's not like Microsoft wasn't in this space too; Windows dominance required that even schools in Apple's macbook program still *had* to buy Windows 9x machines as well. This is an intentional structural problem where everything is to blame EXCEPT LINUX. YOU SHOULD STILL SWITCH TO LINUX. Stop just saying "well it's a structural problem" and then not doing anything. It's a structural problem and you can remove a brick from that structure by SWITCHING TO LINUX if you can.
It's not like structural criticism frees you from the fact that you are being crushed by that system and there are things you can do to fight back. Structural Criticism and Individual Actions are not mutually exclusive. They are kissing, squishing boobs etc.
I think the point here is moreso that students have no real choice to switch to Linux no? That's what the conversation was about, students, not personal at home use. That is a structural issue with no real alternative. That's the exact problem
123movies & putlocker provide more for the people of this country than the army has ever
At least the army doesn’t take the money creators could have made. And is also not stealing anyone’s content. ^^

somebody on twitter blocked me for saying that the status quo does not see trans people as men or women but a deviant, third gender. he told me "☝️its really transphobic to say that trans people arent the gender they really are and that theyre a third freak gender"
like yeah I know it is. are you saying im transphobic for pointing out that transphobia exists.
Wow…I can’t believe that twitter user who blocked you is transphobic; calling trans people a third freak gender like that.
…Wait a minute…Oh no!
saying "the status quo does not see transgender people as real men or women, they see us as a third deviant gender. they do this to dehumanize us and demonize us regardless of our identity" is not the same as saying "trans people are not men or women, they are a third gender freaks" you need better reading comprehension skills
come over
Somebody (who is now buried in the notes) found the book this came from, and it explains the "logic." Here's the part that explains (or perhaps more accurately, tries to justify) the food stuff.
HOW TO ELIMINATE HEREDITARY TENDENCIES While the child may or may not have the hereditary desire for drink, he may yet have the desire created in him by cultivation - through improper diet or injudicious habits of eating and drinking. Inasmuch as the mother has this part of the child's training under her supervision, and knowing that such condiments as peppers and spices, also rich pastries, highly spiced and seasoned foods, pickles and Mexicanized dishes, appeal only to perverted taste and appetite and possess no real food value, but irritate the delicate lining of the stomach and alimentary canal, thereby creating a feverish thirst which water soon fails to satisfy, and for which many times lay the foundation of thirst for stronger drink, therefore we encourage all mothers to avoid placing before their children and family the articles mentioned. We also recommend they discard from the bill of fare such narcotics as tea and coffee, which are not at all essential or beneficial, but highly injurious and may lead to a desire from stronger stimulants. On this subject, Dr. D. H. Kress says, in The Youth’s Instructor: “The question naturally arises, why does this craving for narcotics, especially tobacco, exist? So universal is the craving that ninety-five per cent of the men are already addicted to its use, while a constantly increasing number of boys and women are resorting to it. “This craving is not natural in man. It is a cultivated one. I went to the home of a mother who was a drunkard, to talk and pray with her. As I saw what she ate and drank at her table, I concluded that prayer alone would not help the woman. Her foods were highly spiced and very irritating, and her table drinks stimulating. The excessive use of salt, pepper, mustard, vinegar, and the free use of meats, coffee, and tea, all create an unnatural craving or thirst which water fails to quench. They stimulate the system, or, in other words, produce an irritable or feverish condition, and narcotics are resorted to in order to obtain relief.” Then another important fact which all who have the training of children should observe, is this: It has been fully demonstrated that flesh food has a stimulating effect upon the appetites and passions. Therefore the more nearly our children are brought up on a vegetarian diet, living on fruits, grains, vegetables and nuts, the more easily controlled they will be, and the better fortified to withstand temptation to drink.
Source
So basically, they claim that rich, salty, and well-seasoned food can create a thirst that only alcohol can satisfy, and that tea and alcohol are gateway drinks that lead to alcohol. The ideal solution? A bland vegetarian diet. Don't like it? Well, something's wrong with you because other foods "appeal only to perverted taste and appetite."
After this, the book goes on to say that mothers shouldn't allow their children to play Bad Games (like "dice, cards, pool, etc."), and that the home library should be “made up of good clean works written by such men and women as we would like to have our children associate with, and written upon such themes as will be elevating and ennobling”.
Purity culture and diet culture really haven't changed since this book was published in 1915.
there is something very sad and humiliating about having to desperately beg doctors and family members to understand that involuntary institutionalization does not in fact help your mental health, knowing your perspective will always be dismissed at the end of the day
it's such an awful existence to be a psychiatric patient as a teenager, there has to be another way to help aggressively suicidal teenagers, such as addressing the circumstances that make them want to die so much in the first place! you can stop suicide by locking someone up, sure, but they will not want to live
it's awful that researchers are only now starting to take this perspective seriously, but there is a small but growing body of study supporting exactly what patients have been saying about psychiatric incarceration. one study in particular, from Allegheny county in Pennsylvania, offers a damning analysis of involuntary psychiatric commitments:
For individuals whose cases are judgment calls, where some physicians would hospitalize but others would not, we find that hospitalization nearly doubles both the probability of dying by suicide or overdose and also nearly doubles the probability of being charged with a violent crime in the three months after evaluation. We provide evidence of earnings and housing disruptions as potential mechanisms. Our results suggest that, on the margin, the system we study is not achieving the intended effects of the policy.
haha yeah man female dogs are bitchy and female horses are bitchy and female cats are bitchy and female ferrets are bitchy and female rats are bitchy and female guinea pigs are bitchy and female birds are bitchy and female rabbits are bitchy and female everything is bitchy. lol! isn’t it so funny how you think that! isn’t it so silly that this is your perception of literally every species! haha! i’m sure there’s nothing to unpack there! i’m sure you’re 100% accurate and unbiased in your conclusion that female animals are just inherently evil! i’m sure you have very normal thoughts about human women too! teehee! isn’t everyone laughing! isn’t it so goofy!
ill be real the "poly people are uglyyy" thing just feels like cope? like theyre in a polycule. they have directly proven that multiple people find them hot enough to want to be in a relationship, often sexual, with. you have what? one single Monogamous Jessica, and you're terrified she'll leave you as soon as she sees a rooster with bigger tail feathers?
