Do we know why the Sadeases didn't produce any heir? It probably has to do with possible infertility of one of the two, or them being too focused on each other to want children — which is, well, good for them — or, seeing the change in both Gavilar and Dalinar, Sadeas could choose to be the one to keep a stern mindset, unaltered by bringing children into the picture and whatnot, and outsource the issue to his sibling. But I also could imagine that him and Ialai, back when the friendship between the Kholins and Sadeases was a thing, were simply content with keeping an eye on little Jasnah, and then Elhokar, and then Dalinar's sons. It happens in big families, when raising kids becomes a joint effort. And all I'm saying is, in a better world, Ialai and Torol would be an awesome aunt and uncle for the Kholin children. The type to spoil the youngsters with ridiculously expensive gifts, habitually drop slurs around them just to mess with the parents, sip wine at family and friends gatherings, and encourage all sorts of mischief. I could see Sadeas getting Adolin into fashion. Ialai being infatuated with Jasnah's wit and sharp tongue. Them putting the children up to gossip and harmless shenanigans. Ialai and Navani and Evi picking outfits for baby Jasnah together. Sadeas telling the boys of all the stories and precarious situations he got into alongside their fathers. And then the heartache of it all falling apart after Gavilar's death.
