Such a small detail from Promortyus that always gets me is the moment where Morty gives up on trying to remove his own facehugger in favour of trying to remove Rick's. It's so sad that his instinct is to prioritise Rick's survival over his own, and even sadder that this is shown to be the correct choice, since Rick is able to shoot both facehuggers once freed from his. There's a lot to be said about their dynamic/Morty's reliance on Rick/Rick's reliance on Morty, but this tiny moment tells you everything you need to know.

"Promortyus¨ is a weird episode to say the least but on rewatch it has some interesting moments like Rick being nice to Morty and showing how he would react to Morty (and him) dying. It is also one of the rare times Rick apologizes to Morty (!) for thinking that the kid is going to die because of his fault.

Summer is great in this episode too. Showing how she can become a leader and building a society in a few days. She was left with nothing on her own when Morty and Rick got the aliens on their faces yet she made it to the top and became the alien's queen.

The episode has some really good visuals too, so that's a plus.

People are sleeping on Promortyus. The lighting, colors and animation are fantastic. That color scheme sounds ugly in theory (muddy brown, green and orange), but the artists made it work with perfect framing and balance. I also love the little animation details that make the character's gestures so human, like Rick rubbing his forehead while Summer speaks.

But please, Internet, tell me more about how Rick and Morty is just another ugly Western cartoon.

Rick and Morty season 4 episode 7 "Promortyus" Review.

Ah, this episode man....I liked the human parts, and there were jokes I found genuinely funny...but the face-hugger parts are too gross for me to rank it high...I mean again, it was nice to see Rick treating Morty halfway decent, even though the episode after this is "The Vat of Acid Episode" sooo uhhh yeahhhh, fun fact: The first time I watched this episode, I actually stopped watching at the face hugger part, then the next time I watched it, I covered my eyes at the face hugger part and didn't account for the fact THAT THEY HAD THE SAME VOICES AS RICK AND MORTY. But yeah it's crazy how one scene can derail an entire episode, now I'm going to stop talking about this scene, because if we don't talk about the scene, it doesn't exist. So yeahhh not exactly going to rank this episode high surprise surprise.
