thanks! it’s been a long road. keep up your fight, too! (and yeah, it makes basals super easy, btw, i forgot to answer that part. it tightens up all your control right to the knitty grit, like you wouldn’t believe, so if you have access to medicaid or health care right now, i’d ask your doc about the CGM and see if you can get ahold of it. i think all diabetics should have access to it, and insulin, without all the bullshit, but they make so much money off us i don’t know when that’ll change.)

whats a cgm?

it stands for Continuous Glucose Monitor... they used to only give it out to preggo diabetics, but medicaid covers it now as long as you jump through their hoops (and my doc told me basically what they’re looking for is just proof that your blood sugars aren’t easily controlled by yourself which was easy for me lol). it inserts the same as the pump, but it lasts six days, and tests your bloodsugar every five minutes, sends the info to your pump, and helps you keep up on insulin or stop the pump until you can correct a low. it can also warn you if your bloodsugar is dropping or raising too fast, alarm if you haven’t touched it in hours (like ten or eleven hours, in the event, say, you go into a shock while you’re asleep and it will alarm to try to revive you or let someone around you know shit’s fucked up), etc.i was having a hard time with mine, and got sick and wound up in the hospital which was unrelated, and haven’t used it in a while, but i’m sure i’ll hook it back on eventually.
