If you have diabetes and use a CGM and have the extra money to spare, it's genuinely worth it to get the overpatches/patch tape in fun shapes and patterns. It makes me so much more happy to see a heart or star on my arm than a super medical looking patch to keep it on. I understand the urge to hide your CGM and not draw attention to it, I've done so a lot in my 7 ish months of being diabetic. But an overpatch not only helps your CGM stay on, but helps prevent infections that may happen from your CGM lifting slightly and allowing bacteria in, and covering it with something more colorful, at least for me, helps me feel de medicalized :)
I suggest expressionmed for fun patches, they have tons of shapes and patterns and colors for many different CGMs. They're the only brand I've found that's actually stuck on the whole time I have my CGM on, and also have many options for the CGM I use (dexcom g7).
I love seeing Este with her T1D tech
I bought continuous glucose monitors and am learning a lot. Like remind my server I drink diet soda. So my refill isn’t not-diet.
No other reason eating mostly mushrooms and green beans at the Chinese buffet should send my glucose to 180. 🙃
I wish Dexcom had a setting where you could click “I just ate” and it wouldn’t alarm for at least 30 minutes
hey uh does anyone know if, when you put a new sensor on and it starts bleeding, do you have to take it off? I use the freestyle libre (14 day) and I just put it on for the first time in a while and it started bleeding?? It doesn’t hurt too bad, and it’s not my pump so there’s no medication.
These things are expensive and I only get 2 a month so I really hope I can still use it but I’m kinda scared. But I don’t want it to mess up on readings.
It stopped bleeding after 30 seconds or so, and it only stings a bit.
Have y’all heard of our lord and savior The Borg
I love that wearing a CGM has made weeks like this one possible. The graph shows my Time In Range for each day’s blood sugars. Not too low, not too high. 96% on Wednesday?! Pre-CGM I wouldn’t have thought that was possible for me. (It’s also due to healthy eating - when I stick to the 45-60 carbs per meal range, my blood sugars don’t spike nearly as high as when I eat carbs more recklessly. There were definitely no buffets or special meals in the past week; just good healthy meals mostly prepared at home from whole foods. But the CGM helps alert me to when my sugars are starting to go low or high so I can deal with it, and the end result is a week full of these green bars!)
