a note about tags
holy crap I have followers
This is surreal.
Hi, everybody.
Anyway, about my tags: I use tags to collate, cross-reference, index, cite and comment; and (of course) as search terms. All of my own stuff is cited as "my edits" or "my work." Anybody else whose work I reblog is credited under "author:"
To the best of my ability I find the work's creator. And whether you wrote a thing, gifed a thing, drew a thing, photo-manipulated a thing, I use the broad intellectual-property term "author."
However, sometimes I'm lazy, tired, or simply not paying attention, plus tumblr themes are apparently not all created equal when it comes to providing a link to the originating blog, and then there's the ever-present issue of re-posters.
Point being: if I ever mis-attibute a work, please please please let me know, and I will correct it.
People should be given the recognition they deserve, no matter how small their contributions are.
Even if I agree with your agenda, self-citations lessens my respect.
I'm looking at you, ThinkProgress.
