My understanding abt Proquenna changed a lot
Bruno talks abt the first time he met Nelson and Alain
some crazy Yunnan Shan'ge (Chinese folk song) feat. Proquenna 🫣
*I promise no one gets hurt in this vid:P
Happy new year! 🥰 Hope we can get more people into classic f1 in 2026!
There's something abt proqunenna I know many may disagree.
I don't think that Nelson was or is jealous of Ayrton in any way. This guy is like a fuckin wind that no one can catch. If you have watched all his bios and loads of his long interviews/ docus from the 80s to nowadays. I mean long interviews, not just these notorious short clips that he bullshits anyone or anything. I spent my time on him because I like him first, not that I hate him, or I think oh he could make an interesting ship with Alain or Ayrton or anyone.
Nelson, an irreverent little hooligan, who was taken to a pub and asked for just a Coca-Cola because he had no money at all, who was hurt in the race and asked the doctor not to cut his overall because that's the only one he got, who likes to get in his boat, fly his plane, go skiing or just lying on his couch whole day watch stupid TV series when he's not driving.
Jo Ramirez, who has been in the paddock since the days of the Rodriguez brothers, said that he likes Nelson, because Nelson has been the same man from the first day he met him to the last time he met him. "The fame, the money has not changed him one little bit".
Jackie Stewart said that he'd love to invite Nelson to his home, talking about the good old times and especially what's happening now, because he "don't think Nelson is a man that thinks of the past."
Eliseo Salazar, Hockenheim 82 and boxing? Yes. He said that he's forever grateful to Nelson, because Nelson was the only one who would like to stop and give him, a nobody and stranger at that time, a lift in the heavy rain, because Nelson took him in when he got no place to stay, because Nelson brought him to dinner when he was hungry and that's the first time in his life to eat the McDonald's, because Nelson helped both his career and his life. He said "Nelson is a good rooster".
And I don't need to mention how good a friend he is with Jean or Niki and how much they like or liked him.
From what I have seen, besides all the "everybody knows" defects, I found a humourous, happy, sincere, diligent, intelligent and very content man, just a man. And I can't imagine a man like that, who has that kind of inner peace and irreverent free spirit, would be jealous of anyone.
And I think Alain likes Nelson for exactly that. How many drivers do you know that would fall asleep in the cockpit on the grid just a few minutes before the race? He's very relexed while Alain himself is nervous all the time. That's why I think Alain is more into Nelson rather than otherwise. He spent his days with Nelson on the boat before the championship finale. He put a "Nelson Piquet Fan Club" sticker on his overall. He said "before Senna, I enjoyed the fight". He was enjoying his fight with Nelson, who always shares his idea on safety and human lifes, who stands with him in the downpour in Adelaide 89. He has never ever called Nelson a "dangerous" driver. He lost the 84 championship cuz he "focused too much on Nelson and didn't realize that Niki was also a threat". He never say no to Nelson's (sometimes dirty) body languages. Instead, he just lets him. He was playing with him, smiling. Alain was always smiling when he was with Nelson. There's a very natural closeness between them.
And ofc Alain knows that Nelson called him ugly or homewrecker or whatever, he knows that he likes to make fun of his nose or his face or his physique, just like Jean does, even his daughter does, and he always said "Nelson is a good friend." Alain is just more outspoken on his feelings while Nelson always express his in an "odd" way, but body languages don't lie. Just looks at the way he touches him. So many gifs and photos flash in my head now. A friend is someone you can be mean with, you can be just yourself with, and you can talk shits together, right? And does Nelson look like a spare in proquet relationship when Senna involved? No, I don't think so. And I don't think Alain would ever say anything like you are less than Senna or you will forever live in his shadow like many Senna fans do under almost every related vid. Because that's not true, because Alain never is that kind of person and Nelson is his friend.
Now let's imagine you are a billionaire. Every day you wake up in a huge garage full of your fav antique cars. Which one should you drive or maintain today? You have kids, grandkids and lots of dogs. You have brothers, sisters and lots of friends. It's race weekends let's see how my sons and son-in-law race. Work day again, you have a company to run, a bunch of people rely on you to pay the bills. Do you have time to think about Senna this or Senna that? I don't think so. I think he has already been busy with living his life, simple as that.
And he still talks about Senna, yes, but it's all in interviews. These interviews are all about his racing career, and Senna ofc is also a part of it. It's just a normal thing he talks about drivers back then, Senna, Prost, Schumacher, Niki, Mansell etc. Still, talking shits abt your former colleagues (dead or not) is not decent, but he's not a decent man. He always says what he likes, no matter who would be hit or hurt. We all know that.
Anyway, the logic inside the jealous theory is ridiculous to me and I'm really bored with all the Piquet stereotypes.
