Winterspinat Haldenstein (Spinacia oleracea) germinating in the last few days of 2016! I planted this Swiss heirloom in a high tunnel under low tunnels and it is truly living up to its reputation as a winter spinach. I've grown it for the last three or four years for delicious early spring time eating. It is named after the town where it has been grown by nearly all who live there since before WWI.
