One of our own ex-Mormon friends has been fighting for separation of church and state in Prosper, TX where the principal is leading a prayer group for students. She is being attacked on many sides over an issue that is clearly unconstitutional and in violation of the Texas state board of education which states that religious activities may only be student lead. Separation of church and state protects both the religious and non-religious in our country. It promotes freedom of personal religious expression without forcing those beliefs on others, or others beliefs on yourself. If this were a principal holding a Muslim prayer group or Buddhist meditation, I'm sure the Christian majority would have her back. As it stands, they are telling her to move and leave the ISD, and her kids don't feel safe. If you are able, please publicly show your support for the separation of church and state in Prosper, TX! As a former Mormon, I wouldn't want my kid's school officials leading a Mormon function or any other type of religious function on school grounds in their official capacity.
