Unreliable
I had the seasonal flu, and a silly scene on that topic came to mind. But... when I started to write it, it turned into something not very funny. But still... I wrote it and want to show you. Ally has turned into a guard dog. It's really odd to see him that way, but... in the current situation it feels right.
Ciele (@judesmoonbeauty) thank you for reminding me of that magnificent nickname. I always forget it...
Liam/Alfons/Ellis/Jude/Roger/Victor/Irina around 750 words.
Returning from the mission took all of my strength. I should have told them that I was sick. But... the Queen insisted on my participation, so I couldn't refuse.
We entered the hall and I leaned against the wall, no longer trusting my legs. Come on, girl, one more push. Just up the stairs and to the room... But my legs refused to move.
Liam's voice: I told you she's sick.
Jude's voice: So what?
Ellis' voice: We should have sent her home the moment we noticed. What if it's getting worse?
Liam's voice: Oh, no...
Roger and Alfons' footsteps approached. A very large and hot hand was placed on my forehead.
Roger's voice: She has a fever.
His voice became quieter, probably because he turned away from me.
Roger's voice: Anything else? Coughing, sneezing...
Liam's voice: I didn't hear anything.
Roger's footsteps went away.
Alfons came closer and I magnetically fell against him, cozily putting my head on his chest, nuzzling into his neck. So good... He held me closer so I wouldn't fall, brushing away the hair that was sticking to my face.
Alfons: She's obviously sick. How could you not notice that right away?
Ellis' voice: She looked normal...
Jude's voice: She probably put on a brave front.
Liam's voice: I'm sorry...
Liam's voice was full of desperation. I lifted my head and met his eyes through my blurry vision.
Irina: I'm fine. Don't worry.
Alfons: No, you're not!
My head felt too heavy, so I put it where it belongs... Ally's chest.
Irina: I will be, since you'll take care of me.
Alfons: So irresponsible...
He grumbled, but soothingly rubbed my back.
Victor's footsteps approached.
Victor's voice: What happened?
Ellis' voice: Irina went on a mission with a fever.
Victor's voice: Dear, why didn't you say something? It's not like it couldn't wait a few more days.
Jude's voice: They would be dead anyway...
Ellis' voice: Or we could have done it alone just fine...
Victor's voice: Don't dismiss the importance of her job!
So sleepy... My eyes slowly closed.
Liam's voice: Oh, no, she closed her eyes!
Ellis' voice: She probably just wants to sleep.
Liam's voice: Are you sure? She's so pale...
Victor's voice: Calm down, Liam, it's not like we'd let her die.
I couldn't help but chuckle at that.
Irina: It sounds like a threat...
My head instantly responded with an sharp pang. I groaned.
Victor's voice: See, she's okay.
Alfons: She's obviously not!
Jude's voice: Whatever. We're done here.
More footsteps in different directions. I gave up trying to keep track of them.
Roger's voice: Take this...
A large hand appeared in front of my face, pushing something into my mouth.
Alfons: Don't shove anything into her mouth. Only I can do that.
The hand disappeared from my vision.
Roger's voice: You're absolutely unreasonable right now.
Alfons: What is THAT???
His voice sounded harsher than usual. I lifted my head and witnessed a very rare clash of gazes. Ally usually gave up easily, but he wasn't backing down this time.
Roger: Antipyretic. Do you need the medical name?
Alfons: That would be nice.
Victor: Alfons, Roger is a doctor, he knows...
Alfons: I don't trust him!!!
Jude: Good for you. He's a fraud.
Roger: Oh, come on. Not you too, Jude!
Alfons' gaze moved from one to another, pointing out what he thought about everyone present.
Alfons: These two didn't notice, this one doesn't care, that one only creates noise and does nothing, and you... could give her anything at all under the guise of medicine.
Ellis: He wouldn't...
Alfons didn't let him finish.
Alfons: None of you is reliable right now!
Roger: Says the most unreliable one.
Jude: Rude...
Alfons shook his head, picked me up and went to our room.
A few moments later, after Alfons and Irina had disappeared upstairs...
Liam: I've never seen him this angry...
Jude: He returned from the mission with Roger...
Roger: He was totally fine.
Jude: But then he saw his woman in that state, and he left her with her "brothers"... who were supposed to be taking care of her.
Liam: It's all my fault...
Jude: No, it's mine! I knew and didn't say anything.
Victor: Why?
Jude lifted a brow as if saying "how stupid are you that I need to explain?"
Jude: She didn't want us to notice...
Liam: I'm such a bad brother...
Victor: Stop wallowing! Let's think about what we can do now.
Ellis: I'll bring her flowers, she likes their scent...
Liam: Good idea. I... can make her some tea...
Victor: I'll make her soup...
Everyone ran in different directions. Jude and Roger stayed alone in the entrance hall.
Jude: What's even the point? This walking offence to public morals will take care of everything…
Jude shook his head and turned to Roger, who was surprisingly gloomy.
Jude: What now?
Roger: Do you also think I'd give any of you something for my research while you were sick?
Jude: Well... yeah, it's you after all...
Roger: ...I see...
A few comments
About Roger... I don't see him. At all. I don't understand this guy. Yes, I don't like him... his design, his personality — it's all not to my liking. And in addition, what he did with Ally... But although I should hate him, I'm not. I'm totally indifferent. And since I'm not interested in understanding him better, that makes him an empty person for me.
But... if in a story someone touches a nerve or hurts him, I feel him. I understand his feelings and his reactions. But... only in that state. So... I feel a bit guilty about it. It's like I do it on purpose to make him suffer or something. But I'm not.
Ally usually doesn't express harsh hatred... it's more bitter or sarcastic remarks. So... this behavior of his is very unlike him. But he was obviously not himself due to how unreliable everyone was... He even said that Victor only creates noise and nothing else. Although he never lets himself say anything remotely offensive to the boss.
I believe as soon as my condition returns to normal, Alfons will also return to normal. It's not like he'll be like that from now on...
I like Jude here. Yes, as usual, I have no idea how to write his dialect, but his actions, emotions, and words feel very like him.
Oh, since my condition didn't allow me to see the whole scene properly. I'll add it here. The footsteps in different directions. Jude was about to leave, and Roger returned. So Jude stayed. Why? I don't know.. to check...
I'm not sure if I know about the Queen or not here. Because if I do know... the line about "I cannot refuse" sounds totally different.
