Here's a thought. Wars having a metal lower jaw due to injuries sustained during the War of Eras. A battle goes south which leads to his jaw suffering severe damage. Wars has to have it replaced with metal piece by piece until every bit of his old jaw is gone.
The man has to live with this drastic change, having to carry handkerchiefs to clean up the sometimes bloody drool that often drips from his upper jaw. Wars' upper teeth being exposed similar to an overbite as this is practically the first prothestic ever made in Hyrule.
Want to make it worse? First magic made tonics to help with the pain just messed with Wars' teeth tongue. Making his teeth into fangs, tongue longer and pointed. Medicine had to be changed to prevent anymore unwanted changes.
He keeps the lower half of his face constantly covered as Wars doesn't have confidence in his appearance. Secretly he's glad that his face is like this, the image of being objectified by Cia might've made this accident... more on purpose. The sorceress definitely won't be interested anymore upon seeing his scarred mug.
And then the Chain appears looking for his aid. Wars didn't know if he could take being apart of this group especially upon realization that they are all incarnations of him. His self confidence involving his appearance is nearly non-existent whenever he sees the now gnarly teeth and metal lower jaw.
Mask or Time now and Wind know about the prothestic but not the new changes. Even with Proxi constantly reassuring them that they would accept him, Wars isn't so sure. It's gonna take a lot to make him feel okay with the aftermath the War of Eras wrought.
If you are wondering how Wars looks like with the metal jaw. I think something like Antipathy Hank shall paint the picture well since I haven't draw him yet. (Wars' mouth isn't that bloody like Hank unless he grinds his teeth or applies enough force.)
