Continuing with restructuring and solving issues with my workspace, this time I replaced a small desktop tool caddy where I keep a few essentials in quick reach. I’ve been using the white styrene one for a couple of years, and although it works fine, the back wall is releasing and just generally looks out of place on my desk, as I’ve replaced all of my other styrene tool solutions. I took a few quick measurements, whipped up the same caddy in #shapr3d, and threw it on the printer with #protopasta silver smoke translucent, one of my favorite filaments to run, and matches the rest of my new desktop solutions. And as I was posting this, the amazon man knocked on the door and delivered two more of one of my most used tools, these solid 123 block. These guys come in handy for everything, one of those purchases you didn’t think you really need until you get some in your workshop and start using them. For everything. My other two sets have bolt holes and these solid ones should be pretty nice, grabbed them on the ‘zon for just under 20$ US. A great purchase if you didn’t have a set already. Based on a suggestion from @the.salty.robot , I went out and picked up a 24x24 #skådis unit from @ikeausa over the weekend. Not wanting to choose from a limited selection of accessories, I came home and dedicated one of the printers to producing my own, in a variety of colors, and here is the first crop of units. 2️⃣ elmers glue stick holder, designed by myself, donnybaxter, my printer sits directly in from of this pegboard, and sometimes I need glue, this keeps it right at hand. Printed with Inland orange PLA+. 3️⃣ Tray for IKEA pegboard, by 3dball, just a little tray for assorted uses, printed in #forthelulz by #protopasta. 4️⃣-5️⃣ Caliper holder for IKEA Skadis by Josteinaj. Because this is better than fishing my caliper case off the shelf, opening it, and leaving the case on my desk for 2 days. 6️⃣ ikea skadis shelf, by Eowindel, just an all porpoise universal shelf that works great, although perhaps I should look for another with a bit of a ridge around the front, or maybe I edit it myself... 🤔 7️⃣ Towelholder no pipe needed, by Gerdo. Lastly, a paper towel holder, which gets the roll of paper towels in my office off of desk space. This one admittedly doesn’t work so well, I need to find a replacement print, or use a rod, in contrast to the description. All files pictured are available on #thingiverse , with the exception of my own glue stick holder. This Skadis unit is a great organization addition to my office, although an unwelcome distraction from my already super busy workflow. Oh well.
