Proverbs 16:6 (CEV) - If we truly love God, our sins will be forgiven; if we show Him respect, we will keep away from sin.
Proverbs 16:6 (CEV) - If we truly love God, our sins will be forgiven; if we show Him respect, we will keep away from sin.
God recently brought Proverbs 16:6 to my attention:
"In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil."
I realized how this Verse points to the Gospel, and remembered Scripture in John 1:
In Mercy and Truth God provides atonement for our iniquity: Jesus is the glorious Son of God, full of Grace and Truth, given for us. The precious Lamb of God who purged and took away our iniquity.
I've also actually been studying and learning about the fear of the Lord recently! (Finally back to reading Awe of God by John Bevere and it is such a helpful study God is teaching me through) And it's neat how relevant this Verse is!
What a blessing it is, in the holy fear He inflicts as our eyes are opened, to be mightily convicted by the Lord of the wages of our sin and our dire need for Him - how blessed we are to depart from evil and come to Jesus.
I noticed this Verse a few days ago and then yesterday really read it, and yesterday I actually really needed to see and sit with this Scripture. (Such perfect timing from the Lord.) I needed the reminder that in His mercy and truth God has saved me from my sins through Jesus. Giving so so graciously the opportunity to depart from evil and with obedience reverence Him.
By steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the LORD one turns away from evil.
