Provider Manual Revision Comment Deadline Extension
The department has extended the deadline for public comments on revisions to the Provider Manual. The new deadline is March 2, 2017 @ 12:00 PM, CST. You can find more information on the provider manual revision at this link on the DIDD website.
Incident Management Follow-up Procedure
The DIDD Provider Manual states that when additional information regarding a reportable incident is needed, DIDD will inform the agency that submitted the report. The agency is required to submit the additional information within one (1) business day of receiving the request. To help providers comply with this requirement, Incident Management will include a unique reference number in the subject line of any emailed request for additional information.
· Make sure to add the missing information to the original RIF. Otherwise, the additional information you provide will lack context.
· When responding, reply to the email you received from Incident Management. By doing so you ensure the reference number remains in the subject line.
· Make sure to attach the amended or revised RIF to the email and submit the email to [email protected].

Reminder: Amendments to Extend Provider Agreements
Provider agencies received an amendment document to your DIDD Provider Agreement via e-mail earlier this month on December 4th. This amendment document will allow for extending the agreement period to provide services to December 31, 2015 when signed by all parties and therefore fully executed. Before emailing the amendment back to DIDD, the individual authorized to certify the provider agreement amendment should sign and date the amendment and print their name and title on the next line.
Please note, it is mandatory to sign this amendment document and submit by the date indicated below in order to maintain continuity of the agency’s DIDD Provider Agreement.
Due to the urgency of this matter we are requiring that the amendment be signed and emailed back to DIDD no later than December 22nd, 2014. While the department has currently received a majority of these agreements, to date, some provider agreement amendments have not been returned to DIDD for processing. It is urgent that this documentation is in place for 2015. As soon as the Bureau of TennCare reviews and signs the document, DIDD will forward a copy of the fully executed amendment to you.

Star Agency Recognition Program – Revisions for 2015
In 2006, DIDD (then DMRS) began to recognize provider agencies that were performing at a high quality level by acknowledging them publicly in a listing on the web site and reducing the frequency of quality assurance surveys. Since the start of this program, approximately 185 organizations have attained star status at least once. Several providers have maintained star status since the beginning of the recognition. In 2011, this program was revised to include additional criteria that the department believed to be important for evaluating agency performance. This year, DIDD again evaluated the star program criteria to assure that it continues to provide an opportunity for recognizing those providers that are performing within a ‘best of the best’ category. We obtained input from a sample of current and former star agencies as well as from DIDD staff. After evaluating each suggestion carefully, we have revised the criteria for both the three- and four-star agency determination and have also added a new two-star agency category. The revised criteria can be found at this link. These new criteria will become effective with quality assurance surveys to be conducted beginning January 1, 2015.
Cross-Systems Crisis Planning
The Provider Manual (effective March 15), has a new requirement for primary provider agencies to develop Cross-Systems Crisis Plans for all individuals who have had a behavioral health crisis within the foregoing two years. To help agencies meet this requirement, DIDD is offering live online training entitled, Cross-Systems Crisis Planning: Preventing and Managing Behavioral/Psychiatric Incidents.
The training is provided by Dr. Bruce Davis in conjunction with the Regional Intensive Consultation Team Directors (Dr. Stephen Bell, Dr. Jenny Matthai and Ms. Kris Roberts). Up to 25 lines may log-in for each session on a first come, first serve basis. It is acceptable for multiple individuals to participate per phone line.
