So, I probably won't do an official PrUKtober this year given the dwindling participation (plus I want to try some new events over on my @hwsevents blog), however-!
If you guys make any Halloween/fall themed PrUK pieces, I'd be glad to still reblog them!
Feel free to use any of the previous prompts or even new ones!
“So…?”He started asking when the glare the blonde shot him made him go quiet. “I don’t know how this happened.” She said while she went back to glaring the little gingerbread men to death. Further to death that is.
Thing is neither of them knew how to bake those cookies. Viv refushed to acknowledge she had no idea what she was doing and when she just tried to wing it, Gilbert had awesomely gone along with that. He had read up on some recipes in secret, no need to tell that to anyone though, but these recipes must have been wrong.
Which meant that after making their way through the smoke to rescue the little cookie people from the oven’s mighty flames, they had really only saved them from the confines of the oven. They also managed to save Viv’s kitchen from burning down.
Still, as they stood side by side looking down on their attempt at baking they has to admit the little piles of charcoal were far beyond salvation.
The blonde woman sighed and put her head on his shoulder in defeat. “I’m going to make a call.” The man said and before she could make another comment, Gilbert added “He won’t ask any questions.”
Ludwig shook simply shook his head when he heard his ringtone go off. He had been expecting this call and had been acting accordingly. He answered the call and only said. “They are ready.”
On the kitchen counter was a batch of gingerbread men cooling off.

Notes: written for @pruktober day 9: jumping in a pile of leaves
read on ao3.
The temperatures were starting to drop, the days got shorter, and all around them the trees lit up in reds and yellows. A soft breeze messed up Arthur’s hair and he gripped his son’s hand a bit tighter as they approached the busy street. Peter had a habit of trying to run into oncoming traffic and Arthur would prefer to keep his son alive.
“Fire truck!”
He was sure Peter would have pointed if he could, but given that both of his hands were being held, he elected for just shouting instead. Looking ahead, Arthur saw the fire truck Peter was so excited about. It was nothing out of the ordinary, but the kid was still so young and impressionable, and everything he saw amazed him.
On Peter’s other side, Gilbert laughed.
“Well the fire department’s around here! There’s bound to be a lot of trucks, maybe we can go there when you’re older.” “Why can’t we go now?!”
Peter’s tone was accusatory and his pout was adorable, and Arthur knew that Gilbert just made a terrible mistake.
Luckily his husband had the ability to talk himself out of anything so soothing Peter wasn’t as big of a challenge as it would have been for Arthur.
“We can’t because we’re visiting your Opa, cuddlebug. There’s no extra time for a trip to the fire department. And you know how he gets when we keep him waiting.”
At the mention of his grandfather, Peter seemed to be in a much better mood already and he nodded in understanding but the glint of mischief sparkled in his eyes regardless (a look that Arthur knew from Gilbert but he now happened to recognize in his son far too often as well).
“Okay, but you’re taking me there some day! Promise it!” “Pinky promise! I’ll let you see the trucks up close one day.”
The red light turned green then and they crossed the road without any further complaining on their son’s part, which Arthur was grateful for. He adored his son, he loved him to bits, but Peter could be a lot when he got upset.
They left the busy streets in favor of going down the path by the forest instead. It was quieter and they ran much less risk of Peter running into the busy street there. Plus, as a bonus, Peter would get to pick the leaves and chestnuts off the ground, something Arthur knew Peter had been looking forward to since the beginning of autumn.
Letting go of the boy’s hand, Arthur watched his son immediately dash forward to one of the chestnuts on the ground, picking it up and holding it into the air triumphantly.
“Lookit! So cool!”
He seemed so proud and Arthur couldn’t help but smile, watching Gilbert as he praised the chestnut into high heavens, treating it like it was a gemstone Peter found. Gilbert just had a way with kids, and it seemed to all come naturally to him. He knew what to say at the right moment, he knew how to react, he could exaggerate his reactions in a way Arthur still struggled with.
He loved watching him interact with their son, because Peter was just so much like Gilbert it was almost painful. He had two menaces running around his house, causing chaos, yelling, screaming, playing. (Never making a mess, though, or at least not one that didn’t immediately get cleaned up. Gilbert was very meticulous about that, he valued order and cleanliness.)
Sometimes it was almost too much.
Almost.
“You shouldn’t encourage him to pick up random stuff off the ground.”
The outraged look on Gilbert’s face let Arthur know that he hit exactly the buttons he wanted to, letting Gilbert rant a bit about how it wasn’t even dangerous when it’s just a chestnut, and that Peter was obviously smart enough to know the difference. Arthur seriously doubted that Peter would know the difference between something dangerous and something safe at his age, but before they could start bickering, their attention was diverted back to said son, who’d started tugging at their sleeves.
Looking to where he was pointing, Arthur sighed quietly. A big pile of leaves was at the side of the path, no doubt having gotten cleaned up just a few hours earlier to make the path more accessible. It probably sounded like a great idea to just jump into it, but Arthur knew that he couldn’t let Peter do that. Someone had raked them up, he couldn’t Peter ruin a poor guy’s hard work like that, especially when it was supposed to keep the path clean, and regardless-
But, of course, before he could even finish that thought, let alone start speaking a sentence Gilbert had already grabbed their son’s hand and made a dash for the pile. In a matter of seconds the leaves flew all around them, doing exactly what Arthur wanted to prevent, Gilbert and Peter breaking into a fit of giggles as they sat in the remains of the pile, and Arthur couldn’t even find it in himself to be mad.
“You gonna join us?” “Absolutely not. Who knows what kind of bugs live in that pile.”
But he didn’t press for them to get up right away, either, the fond smile on his face remaining as he watched them throw the leaves at each other.

Title: For science, dear devil!
-------------------------------------------
Gilbert would like to have it known that of all the demons he was a pretty chill one.
He liked to pull tricks, annoy and be a general nuisance but he wasn’t evil just for the sake of being evil.
He would like to think that was a good quality about him!
But this meant that most of the other demons found him a bit of a weirdo, and as a demon... humans, angels and other creatures stayed clear of him as well.
Except for Arthur.
Arthur was an angel.
But the only thing that gave that away was the halo and the faint hint of fluttering white wings Gilbert could sometimes perceive.
Apart from that nothing would tell you Arthur was an angel because he acted so unlike any angel Gilbert has ever encountered.
Which was probably why Arthur was the only one that didn’t mind him being a bit of a strange demon.
Gilbert just hoped Arthur would not get in trouble by hanging out with him.
Not that he would ever tell the angel that!
He had too much pride to admit he cared!
No, Arthur was special because he really liked humans.
Obsessively liked humans.
Arthur could spend ages just looking at them in wonder and admiration.
For example the other day he went, “Just look at that Gilbert, isn’t that just delightful?”
And Gilbert would look to see some old man feeding some birds. There was nothing particularly interesting about it and if Arthur hadn’t been there Gilbert would probably pull a trick on the old man to make him fall into the water.
Instead he turned to Arthur, looking at how much joy the angel got from this simple act of humanity, and Gilbert would feel something weird in his chest.
“Yes, delightful,” he murmured before shaking himself out of it.
Trying to play it off as if he had been sarcastic when the angel turned to him with a raised eyebrow.
Gilbert would just roll his eyes and tell him he was bored, and Arthur would shrug and say that they could go find some other human to look at.
The devil would agree and smile to himself while the angel wasn’t looking.
The first time the two of them met was when Gilbert was about to pull some trick that would involve an entire bowl of pasta and some human’s brand new sweater.
Suddenly he had felt a weird presence and slowed what he was doing.
“Oh don’t stop, I’m curious to see what would happen.”
Gilbert had been very surprised when he noticed it was a blonde angel that had said that and not one of his colleagues from the underworld.
“Curious? You would rather watch than stop this mean act?” Gilbert snorted.
“I do not think it is necessarily mean, and it could potentially lead to some greater good in the long run, so, yes I will allow it.” Arthur had said.
Gilbert had been thrown off and debated arguing with the Angel about how exactly he would stop him if he ‘did not allow it,’ but decided to go on with his plan.
He laughed gleefully when his victim’s new white sweater got covered in spaghetti sauce.
The angel shook his head and tutted.
Gilbert rolled his eyes before narrowing them as the Angel suddenly smiled.
“Watch.” he simply said, pointing towards the human that was frantically trying to rub the stain out of his sweater.
A nice girl happened to pass by and noticed what he was doing, going trough her purse and getting out some magical stain removal product.
The young man could not thank the girl enough and she laughed telling him he could make it up to her over dinner.
Gilbert’s mouth had been wide open in surprise.
“Congrats devil, you were just responsible for a beautiful love story.” Arthur had grinned.
And once more Gilbert narrowed his eyes, “pride is not really fitting for an angel of the lord.”
Arthur laughed, “I’m not your typical angel.” and he put out his hand for the devil to shake, “I’m Arthur.”
“Gilbert,” the devil slowly said, eyeing the hand like it was some kind of trap.
“I don’t bite, as the humans say.” the angel said, smiling.
It sounded like the tingling of bells.
Gilbert felt himself turn red, and grabbed the hand to shake it quickly, “right, but maybe I do.” he grinned, pulling the angel closer.
Arthur had simply raised an eyebrow, now separated by only centimetres from the white haired creature of hell.
“I don’t think I’d be particularly tasty but do tell me about your findings if you do.”
Gilbert had let go of the Angel, again caught of guard.
“What?”
The angel just shrugged, “I do not know what would happen if you were to bite me.”
“Uh, I don’t either, to be quite honest.” Gilbert admitted.
“So, let’s find out.” Arthur had smiled.
“Maybe, not.” Gilbert had quickly said, a bit too weirded out.
“Sorry, I tend to do that to people.” the angel said, frowning.
“it’s okay.” Gilbert said, “I do that to people too.”
The way the angel had smiled at him...
Gilbert hadn’t quite felt so alive since he had actually been.
That’s how the two of them started an unlikely friendship, watching humans as they occasionally pulled some devilish or angelic magic, seeing if the consequences would play in their favour or against them.
Arthur had learned a lot from him and Gilbert was surprised to say he had learned a lot too.
It explains why he barely raised an eyebrow when the Angel suddenly appeared before him with a face brimming with excitement, at least for the angel.
“What is it you need me for?” Gilbert rolled his eyes, amused, pretending like humouring the angel was a task he found bothersome instead of something he really looked forward to.
“I need you to kiss me.”
Now of all the things Gilbert had expected him to say that was not quite it.
“What?”
“I said, I need you to kiss me.”
Gilbert just kept staring at the Angel, mouth agape and eyes wide.
The angel moved a hand in front of his face to see if he was alright.
“Hello? Anyone present?” Arthur asked, frowning.
Gilbert came back to himself and hissed at the hand near his face, making Arthur roll his eyes.
“So? What is your answer?"
"I have a lot of questions first, Angel." Gilbert started, nonchalantly, in an attempt to appear calmer than he was.
Arthur's face immediately brightened up at the lack of rejection and especially the implication that he wasn't opposed to it, depending on some extra information.
"For the interest of science and your active enthusiastic consent, I'll be open to answer your questions." The angel said, stepping a small step back. He had however a tiny confident smirk on his face that was driving Gilbert crazy.
The terms "active enthusiastic consent" kept repeating themselves over and over in the demon's mind.
"So, dear devil, what did you wish to ask?" Arthur interrupted his internal musing with an amused raised eyebrow.
Gilbert exhaled, "My first question is 'Why?'"
Arthur didn’t hesitate. "To sate my scientific curiosity, next question, please." The angel shrugged, seemingly wanting to get it over with fast, which was making Gilbert quite flustered.
“Fine. Why me?” Gilbert asked, looking away from the blonde and thus missing the momentary hesitation on the angel’s face.
“Well... I didn’t see any of the angels being up for it and I would rather stay clear of any other demons. Especially Francis, you know he would not take this science experiment seriously and it would just be an excuse for him to attempt to defile me.”
Gilbert frowned at the thought of his colleague, the succubus, and had to agree with the angel’s assessment. Although he doesn’t get from where Arthur gets the impression Gilbert would not want to defile him.
“So it is me because there is no one else?” Gilbert asked, a little disappointed but trying not to let it show.
The angel looked away, “I could also just not do the experiment, but I decided to try it out with you.” he said, feeling his cheeks heat up.
Gilbert considered that and felt something warm in his chest again.
“Then apart from ‘how do you want to do this?’ I have no more questions.” Gilbert shrugged at the angel, with a small grin.
Arthur grinned back at him, “just let me work okay?”
Gilbert swallowed once, not used to the angel being so confident.
“A-alright, angel, but no tricks alright?” Gilbert joked.
“I wouldn’t dare in front of the master trickster,” the angel joked back, getting out his notebook and a pen.
“Everything ready?” Gilbert asked with a note of amusement, eyeing the notebook.
Arthur made a noncommittal noise and gestured for him to come closer.
Gilbert was about to open his mouth when Arthur suddenly pulled him against him by the front of his clothes and kissed him.
In the few seconds their lips touched Gilbert felt incredibly light, as if he had started floating. The feeling in his chest burst and he felt something indescribable. A warm feeling coursing trough his entire system.
When the angel pulled back Gilbert made a disappointed noise at the back of his throat. Was this really it? Gilbert wanted more! He turned towards Arthur with a frown.
Arthur was bright red but busy writing some things in his notebook.
“Alright, that was good, now second attempt.” the angel murmured pulling the still dazed devil closer once more and kissing him once again.
This time Gilbert made sure to be more active, not as caught of guard. The small noise of pleasure Arthur let slip felt like the biggest victory.
Once again, Arthur pulled back too soon for Gilbert’s liking.
The angel actually laughed a little when he moved to his notebook to write some more things down.
“Angel,” Gilbert said, voice hoarse with want.
Arthur tensed a little which is how Gilbert knew the angel was ignoring him on purpose.
“Is there a third attempt?” The demon asked, very interested in the answer.
“Y-yeah, just give me a second,” the angel said, flustered, turning such a lovely shade, Gilbert thought as he stepped closer to the heavenly being.
“Good.” Gilbert purred. He did not know what came over him but he wanted the angel in front of him. He wanted him like he had never wanted anything in the world, hell and heaven included.
Arthur finally put the notebook and the pen down and turned to the demon again.
“Are you r-”
He did not get to finish his sentence or the demon was on him, crushing their mouths together.
Pulling at him, hand moving trough those soft blonde locks.
Gilbert wanted to consume him. Tongue moving to lick over those sinfully soft lips. Groaning in pleasure as the angel opened his mouth for him to continue his exploration. The demon was enjoying himself and he hoped that from the noises the angel was making, the soft groans and occasional whimper, he was enjoying himself too.
He suddenly feared it was too much and that he was actually doing what the angel had feared Francis would do to him and Gilbert pulled back suddenly, stepping two meters away from the pale blonde.
“I am so sorry,” Gilbert said, voice hoarse, biting his lip as he looked at the angel in front of him.
Arthur looked dazed, hair askew and clothes dishevelled.
Yet, his halo had never seemed so bright.
Gilbert swallowed wondering if that was a good sign.
It should be right?
“Oh no, Arthur, I’m sorry.” Gilbert groaned.
Arthur shook himself out of his daze, “wow,” he just murmured to himself, picking up his notebook and writing down some more things in a very hurried way.
“Arthur.” Gilbert said, wanting the angel to acknowledge him.
“Yes give me a minute.” Arthur said, turning away from him but the top of his ears betraying him.
“I’m sorry angel, you said you did not want some demon defiling you.” Gilbert started and Arthur perked up at that, turning to him.
He snorted.
Gilbert looked up not having expected that.
“You think this is defiling me?” the angel asked, with a raised eyebrow.
Gilbert felt his own cheeks heat up.
“I-uh I don’t know?” he answered, awkwardly.
“Gilbert, I’ll tell you a little secret.” Arthur walked closer to him, making him weak in the knees.
The devil wondered for a second if he wasn’t a succubus in disguise, having such a power over him.
“You’re a terrible demon.” Arthur smiled.
Gilbert went trough a myriad of emotions, not having expected that. From confusion, to anger, to hurt, back to confusion.
Arthur having noticed that the devil didn’t understand slowly put a hand to the man’s face, this time without any hissing on the demon’s part.
“Which is why I fell head over heels in love with you.”
Something in Gilbert burst, and he closed his eyes feeling so incredibly light again, as if he was flying!
He opened them again when he heard a gasp.
It was his angel, staring up at him from where he was still standing on the ground.
Gilbert frowned and gasped as the angel suddenly jumped and let his wings out, flying towards him... well more like barrelling into him.
“You’ve got wings!” Arthur gasped, face full of wonder.
“I’ve got wings.” Gilbert repeated, more focused on how the angel was clinging to him, therefore forgetting to actually use his new appendages, and making them both fall to the ground.
“Gilbert this is incredible!” Arthur laughed, having fallen on top of the devil.
Out of breath, and still not quite sure of what was going on Gilbert just stared at the angel, smiling so brightly at him.
“I love you too, angel,” he whispered, and with a groan he suddenly felt another burst of something inside his body.
His head hurt, and when he moved a hand to his horns he realised they had disappeared.
instead his hand passed trough something warm, like a tangible glow.
“You’re an angel! Gilbert! You’re an angel! This is incredible!” Arthur shook his shoulders.
Gilbert looked himself over and found that Arthur was right, he even lost his tail!
He turned back to the angel, full of wonder.
“A-Arthur,” he started, and the angel was there, in front of him.
“What is it?” He asked, moving to hold the angel’s hands in his own.
Gilbert felt a sudden wetness on his cheeks, and Arthur frowned at him.
“Gilbert, dear, what’s wrong?” the angel asked, worried.
“I’m so so happy, but Arthur, does that mean y-” he hesitated, “you will become a demon?”
Arthur paused, frowning, “Good question.”
Gilbert bit his lip, looking at the beautiful angel in front of him, watching him hesitate.
Arthur moved suddenly and kissed him once again, hands moving to frame his face, closing his eyes at how good it felt.
He pulled away, put his hands on his head to check if he had horns and shook his head, with a relieved smile.
Gilbert was still trying to recover from the kiss, still not quite convinced he wasn’t dreaming.
Arthur pulled away from him, and went back to his notebook to scribble some things on there.
“What are you even writing?” Gilbert finally asked, confused by his dear angel.
“I’ll admit, initially it had just been an excuse to kiss you.” Arthur muttered, looking away as Gilbert laughed.
“That’s adorable!”
“Shut up,” Arthur huffed out.
“Make me,” Gilbert grinned.
Arthur rolled his eyes, “I can’t, as i was saying, first it was just an excuse but now there is actually something to test and analyse.”
Gilbert rolled his eyes, but decided humouring his... partner? partner sounded good - was more important than whatever more kisses he required.
He decided to spend some time grooming his new wings as he waited for Arthur to finish writing. After a while the angel sat up, rereading everything he wrote and turning towards the ex-demon.
“So what is our next step in the scientific discover?” Gilbert asked, curious to know what the angel had concluded.
“I need you to defile me.” Arthur turned to him, with all the seriousness he could muster.
“Ah.”
then after a few seconds.
“Alright.”
“No questions?” the blonde asked amused.
“Apart from ‘how do you want to do this?’ I have none.”
In the end it turned out that while they weren’t perfect angels, they were far too bad at being demons to grow some horns and a tail.
No matter how hard they tried to defile each other.
Spirits show a glimpse through smudged glass. Two figures on a dark forest trail. A glint of crossed gold pings off two strange growths on the other’s head. They’re gone just as quickly as the vision comes, perhaps a figment of imagination, tired eyes rubbed beyond their sting, or dare it be said—a man of the cloth walking hand in hand with Hell on Earth.
