𝑺𝑯𝑬 𝑯𝑨𝑻𝑬𝑺 𝑯𝑶𝑺𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑨𝑳𝑺 — hates the smell, the feeling of death that overwhelms the halls and occupies each room. it’s only a brutal reminder of her inevitable fate; that she, too, would become like those people who laid helplessly in their beds until their hearts could no longer pump and their lungs could no longer breathe. still, she needs to be here —— needs to do this. each doctor in france told her the same, but perhaps she’s still entertaining the foolish notion the next would be different. the modicum of hope that she holds is diminished each time, smaller and smaller, until one day it would be gone.
today was no different and her last chance at finding a new answer. she was out of options and there was no more running from it. a couple years, at best. she’d wasted so much time already, naive in her searching for a different outcome. a sigh draws inwards as she waits, feet idly bouncing against the linoleum flooring. head drops to stare at her legs, draped over the hospital bed. at this point, she just wants to go back to her hotel room. but, who knows how long it would take before they actually released her.
attention is pulled from her thoughts to the sound of the door opening, slate hues lifting to meet with a woman. posture straightens as she watches her enter the room. ❛ —— so, can i leave now ? or do you need me to fill out more papers ? ❜

you think SHE’S AN ANGEL when you first see her ( and why wouldn’t you? when you see her it’s all blinding bright lights, a beautiful face, and the first relief from the pain you’ve been in this last week ) — until you realize. oh. oh. it’s her. you’ve never been more thankful for a familiar face. “ hey, ” it comes out garbled and you can TASTE THE BLOOD in your mouth, all iron and familiarity, and you can only imagine the mess that you are — bruised and beaten, but not broken. you’ve never been broken. you never will be broken. there’s a smile growing on your face, revealing crimson coated teeth, probably more unsettling than it is comforting, but you’re smiling because FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY they found you, “ y’found me. ”
