The boy nods. The rags are gone, and he's now attired - somewhat incongruously - in an old Junior Prydonian gown the Doctor found in the TARDIS wardrobe, the only clothes he could find to fit a child of his years.
I have questions. Was it Susan's? Or (less likely) the Doctor's? Is that the kind of gown worn before the Untempered Schism? (Clowning: did Marnal leave it there somehow?)
(The boy is a 10 years old orphan, saved from the Dalek Emperor by Dalek 444, a Dalek scientist who shoved him into his improved casing to save his life, sacrificing itself in the process.)
Let’s look to the bright side... We’re back. With style.
*epic This is Gallifrey in the background*

Doctor Who: The Deadly Assassin
I rewatched this serial on 12 March 2023. It’s not one I know well since it fell afoul of the Aussie censors during the 1970s when I was a kid. I did read the novelisation with great interest given all the Time Lord lore.
It begins with a scrolling text and voice over about a crisis in Time Lord history. The Doctor arrives on Gallifrey, which looks different from the previous times we’ve seen it. However, this story is the template for future Time Lord/Gallifrey stories all the way to now but especially The Invasion of Time, Arc of Infinity and The Five Doctors.
The story itself is a political thriller instigated by the Master, who is in a new body and wants more regenerations. A lot of the action takes place in the matrix, in a sort of virtual reality. Loads of stuff happens there, and the Doctor is put through the wringer. It’s relentless, and mostly well done with quite a different vibe to it than many of the serials to date. I can see why people got upset by it at the time although it does have some pointed things to say about rewriting history.
One thing that’s missing from the tale is any women, aside from a disembodied voice. 🧐
Fun fact: the Prydonian seal was seen on Voga, planet of gold, nine serials ago.
A classic Gallifreyan novel called
Prydon Prejudice
Prydonians: Fuck, a plant!
Ceruleans: Fuck a plant!
i like it!! so...orphan black, game of thrones, supernatural? c:
Watch OB, remake GoT (which is flawed as hell), cancel SPN.
This one was pretty easy, actually.
prydonians replied to your post:could you explain weaponized femininity some more? This is the first I've heard of it and i want to hear more about it
i actually sooorta understand the lipstick/eyeliner one if only because vibrant lipstick and bold eye makeup aren’t actually really seen as appealing by a lot of the male population and they aren’t expected, more ~subtle~ makeup is
yeah but i still don't think, like, wearing red lipstick instead of ~coral~ really counts as acting out against the patriarchy.
also, most of the looks i see associated with this kind of rhetoric are like -- black winged eyeliner, smoky eyeshadow and red lipstick. not really unconventional or shocking look, that's like... a red carpet look, or even a clubbing look.
