IT (the deadlights) is the midnight entity.
Ok so, hear me out on this: when you look at the midnight entity across both midnight and the well, it evolves in a way that feels so similar to how the deadlights/it operates.
The first time we see it in midnight, it almost feels young, or at least inexperienced with humans. It learns through mimicry. First it copies speech with a delay, then it catches up, then it overtakes. So it looks like it’s studying the rhythm, fear, reactions, social dynamics.
In the well it feels older, more efficient, like it adapted to its environment and discovered easier feeding strategies like a predator refining its hunting style.
IT crashes on earth and has to adapt itself around human understanding. It creates forms humans can process. It messes with their brains.
The midnight entity feels the same to me. It’s a creature that fundamentally does not naturally exist in a human framework but learns how to imitate one because it’s useful for hunting.
And both entities share this one characteristic: they don’t just kill people, they understand people in order to consume them better.
They’re fast learners, highly intelligent beings. They’re both deeply tied to fear and psychological vulnerability. And they both exist beyond normal physical form.
Also! They both weaponise groups rather than just individuals. In midnight, the creature barely does anything physically at first. The real horror comes from how quickly the passengers turn on each other. Suspicion spreads, fear spreads, and the entity almost acts like a catalyst for social collapse. AND THE DEADLIGHTS DO THE SAME THING. People in derry actively (or sometimes unconsciously) ignore abuse, disappearances, literal child murder. IT feeds on fear, yes, but also on collective denial and paranoia, it turns people against each other.
Oh my god the more I think about it the more I find similarities. Idk if this makes sense to any of you lot but I am OBSESSED with this idea
