Something I have noticed over the years, is that people are constantly mistaking their own abstract thoughts and thinking processes for "higher truths" and "transcendent realities." It happens very often among mystical types, and reactionary spiritualities are hugely fueled by it. I think this needs to be recognized and called out as a form of pseudointellectualism more often.

Sometimes I see someone make a comment on some awesome art, taking 300 words to restate exactly what the artist already said but doing a worse job... and it's already blindingly obvious what the artist is saying (or at least the interpretation the commenter has chosen is). And for some reason that makes me weirdly but acutely annoyed.

Disclaimer: I'm not a good artist, and I'm probably shit at finding the potential interpretations of art too (because these are skills that I don't practice and haven't built up yet)

I think it maybe feels like being patronised when I see the equivalent of a picture of a dog playing cards getting reblogged with a comment like "This artist is truly a visionary. It resonates so much with our lived experience - we really don't take enough time to care for ourselves socially. If only we could all be more like our pets and take the time to relax and play games together, it would be so human of us."
