My response:

This message is written from my perspective as a concerned voter who sincerely believes that the Labour Party are the answer to the end of 14 years of abysmal Tory rule. However, if the Labour Party's stance on the rights of transgender people does not move significantly, I will not be able to vote in good conscience for the party going forward.

It has recently emerged that the Shadow Chancellor has been in discussion with J. K. Rowling regarding "reassurance" on the topic of policies relating to transgender people. I take issue with this for the following reasons.

It is obvious to anyone paying attention that Ms. Rowling is a deeply biased individual who routinely dismisses the medicine-backed reality of gender identity as separate from sex-assigned-at-birth. She uses her position of wealth and privilege to cultivate a cult of personality on this single-issue, which - it ought to be remembered - affects an overwhelming minority of the UK's population.

As a party that has historically prided itself on backing the working class, and making things fairer for all, does it not seem antithetical to this messaging to invite an individual billionaire (and previous Labour donor) to speak with a policy decision-maker as a de facto lobbyist?

It smacks of the same corruption for which the Labour Party and its supporters have rightly derided the Conservatives.

I urge you to realign with your principles and lead by example, holding any conversation with a lobbyist, benefactor or other person of significant influence in a public forum. Be transparent, be honest, and be the party of fairness and trust that the UK deserves after dealing with Tories for far too long.
