the stereotype that physical nonhumans are "harmful" does more damage than good.
this really shouldn't be a hot take, but it is for some reason. no matter how you consider yourself to be physically nonhuman (pshifters, holotheres, endels, clinical lycanthropes/zoanthropes, extra limb growers or other titles/identities i forgot to include), i strongly believe that we all deserve a space to exist in.
no, physical nonhumans aren't out to get you. we aren't out here to scam you or hurt you, we are simply living our lives amongst you. the shitty groups and people of the past gave us a bad name, not because we're actually physically nonhuman. just bc we have different experiences doesn't make us lesser; it just makes us alive.
in my eyes, we are all equal. if you identify as a song, concept, plant, the vibes of a room. if you are able to physically change yourself somehow, internally or externally, whether or not other people can see this transformation or if you are/were growing extra limbs, we are all equal no matter if we are able to understand each other or not. i like to think we can agree to disagree and be kind, but clearly for some it's hard to do that.
anyways i know ive made this post before like 100 times but the topic of excluding physical nonhumans REALLY bothers me because we are an important part of the nonhuman/alterhuman/therian etc community as a whole. it bothers me a lot that there's people out there that think nonhumanity is exclusively spiritual/mental and throws out the "pshifters are abusive scammers" card. like, girlie pop we are just minding our own business in circles we've created bc YOU THREW US (the ones who had no connection to the actual shitty individuals of the past) OUT.
TLDR; stop throwing out physical nonhumans because of some shitty individuals that ruined our reputation. also i know i say this a lot but it's a topic that's on my mind quite a bit bc i feel like physical nonhumanity is excluded a lot and it feels unfair to have our community watered down to just "delusional or gullible ppl/children" or "toxic lying scammers".
anyways (again) i love u all fellow shapeshifters and critters and other things/folks in the world out there somewhere! /p
P-shifter survey!
I've made a survey to collect community data for my book that I plan to write on shapeshifting lore and current shifter topics. If you're a pshifter or other physical nonhuman and you want to participate, feel free to go to the link below, and don't be afraid to add feedback if you think something is missing or needs improvement!
NOTE: By submitting your responses, you are agreeing to your data being compiled and used in my upcoming book "The Bestiary of Yourself", a
do not be afraid to label your body as nonhuman
do not be afraid to label your body as nonhuman!
i think there are some labels or instances where folks claim to be physically nonhuman but then say that they still realize that they or their bodies are human. nonhumanity is kind of a spectrum and i understand that there are people still connected to their humanity, but to those who aren't, don't be afraid to say that your body is also nonhuman. you're allowed to be free. even if you might be "human presenting", it doesn't automatically make you human for looking or acting like one when you know who you are on the inside. sometimes it just takes a while to translate onto the outside. 💙
question!
a question for my fellow physical shifters, nonhumans, and other similarly flavored creatures out there! what kind of content would you like to see more in our communities? what do you think needs to be said or touched upon more, or what stories need to be told of forgotten times or individuals? (amongst other things in a similar regard that need to be talked about, or just things you want to see more of!)
I see a lot of posts saying to make the content you'd like to see if it doesn't already exist, so I'd like to push some stuff out there that you think is important or interesting! I'm never really sure what types of new things to talk about on this blog anyways :P
pshifters and modern therianthropy
as much as most of the modern therian community loves to demonize and throw physical shapeshifters out of their spaces, I want to take the time to remind the therians of today that their community was built on shapeshifting, werewolves, and other wereshifters. "therian" was also used to describe physical shifters or weres in some cases in the 90s, 2000s and sometimes up until the early 2010s. there was really no distinct separation between the two terms until later.
shapeshifting practices have existed long before any of us have been alive, and sightings of shifters over the centuries have been recorded as well. though I suppose that the ancient claims of wolves being evil creatures translating to werewolves being evil too is equivalent to the modern way of the therian (and other communities) saying that pshifters are "evil" just because of some bad groups and individuals that hurt and ruined others, and the overall reputation of the physical shifter community. just as farmers would demonize wolves eating and attacking their livestock and tell tales of wolves having dirty spirits or tales of "demonic" dog-people, individuals from the pshifter community that have done many of us wrong have been the face and first thought that comes into people's minds when they think of us.
though, in other cultures, wolves have been seen as powerful and wise spirits and honorable creatures, and the wereshifter counterparts in these cultures being honored as well. (i am sure there are other animals with similar stories, but wolves/werewolves were the most memorable and recorded.)
i'd like for the overall modern nonhuman communities (therians, otherkin, alterhumans, etc) to not forget where the roots of their communities and identities come from, to not judge a book by its cover, to unlearn fear and hatred. after all, separation and misinformation are the dividing forces that result in stigma and is what fuels hatred, mistrust and fear. you don't have to believe in physical shifting, but overall respect and agreeing to disagree civilly is kind enough.

i wish the pshifter community on here was a little more active ^^ im too shy for discord servers and always forget to talk in them especially if I don’t know anyone too well, and I like the openness of social media … i understand why it’s so quiet, though
