Merlopian Nya

AKA: Au where Nya is a missing Merlopian princess

Rundown: Nya is born into the royal merlopian family but goes missing at a young age (which may or may not be Kalmaar's fault.) Somewhere on the surface, Ray and Maya find this little squid-thing and take her in and raise her, with no idea of what she is or where she came from.

Some miscellaneous fun facts about this, not in any real order

It makes Nya's situation of feeling deeply out of place from the other ninja way worse for a while :) she feels under so much more scrutiny and like she has so much more to prove and she is so visibly different from the rest of them. It's not a great feeling

Also: While most the squid-like merlopians have legs, the royal family has tentacles, which means she has tentacles. And that's awesome. It takes her longer to get the skills for it since it's not like anyone around her has experience fighting with that many limbs, but boy does she become extra scary in a fight. Few people stand a chance.

Maya passes her power onto Nya when she's small, similarly to how the previous ice master did for Zane.

As a result she's just extra testy about people's perception of her (and she was already pretty testy in canon lol. rightfully tbh). She gets tense about it and is quick to lash out.

It's well into Seabound when it is finally revealed who she is. Kalmaar knows right away but hides it from her, and Trimaar does too but is attacked before he can say anything about it. Only later does Bentho, who never knew her, realize exactly who she is

The absolute whammy of encountering people that look like her only to immediately be hunted down by the entire kingdom made for an obviously wild emotional roller coaster.

While she's technically next in line after Kalmaar, she leaves the thrown to Bentho. He's the one who knows this land and she has a life to live anyways. She's not cut out to be queen she's been there done that lol

He shows her their home and culture when that's all said and done :)
