Fall 2018 Quarter Course Schedule
I was finally able to register for courses yesterday. I made these cute little class schedule visuals so that it seems less scary to me. 🙃
Timing //
I have late afternoon courses, but none so late that winter hours will make it scary to get home (not too bad at least). I really don’t like being out by myself past dark, and the sun starts to set around 4:20pm in the winter. Some of the class options were for getting out around 6:30 or even 10! :S No thanks. I kind of wish my classes were a little earlier, but I think overall it’ll be good to not be rushing first thing in the morning. I’m trying to become more of a morning person, but I’m not there yet. Late afternoon will allow me to get an early or late lunch with Trev, or wait around at a coffee shop and go home with him if he gets off work early enough. It’ll be good to have a significant amount of time in the morning and after class to get work done, so I can change my scenery and not get too burned out on one task at a time.
I think it will be nice to have courses that are spread out throughout the week (Tuesday, and Friday), that way I’m not having to get all my work done at once. I’m a little scared of having random deadlines though, because of that. My undergrad courses usually had the same deadlines, so it was easy to remember (although, could be harder to manage since I had to plan my time around multiple deadlines at once). Also, I’m glad I’m not taking a Monday course because honestly I need a break after the weekend most of the time...
Subjects //
The first quarter is highly dictated based on the program we’re in. Luckily, I tested out of the required writing course, and I already took an Abnormal Psych course in undergrad, so I'm off the hook for that, too. Saves a lot of time and money! Plus those courses aren’t even for credit (I think Abnormal was just 1 credit). So essentially I’m only taking 2 courses, at 6 credits total for the quarter. That was what my school recommended for new students, so that’s what I’m doing. I could have tacked on another course, but what’s the point? It might be fine, but it might burn me out, so I just signed up for what was recommended.
One of the courses listed here is actually just a one-day-only required class for my program, so I’m not really counting that. It doesn’t count for credits.
I’ve heard the origins class was REALLY intense. :) Which I am kinda excited about. Less excited about the role-playing in Counseling Skills, but whatev, I guess you have to practice at some point. Honestly, I’m terrified of being bad at this. I know everyone feels that way, but I really am...
Does anyone else have classes that cover the same sort of stuff? What did you think of them? How do you cope with feeling like you might not be good at counseling, but you still wanna do it? 😬 I feel nervous!!!
(Edit: I had to reupload these because I had to change my schedules a little, forgot it conflicted with some other stuff).
