i have so many insane feelings about it's the great pumpkin sam winchester. imagine you're sam you pray to god every night you're desperate to believe in angels while fighting demons on the daily. the first time you meet one he reduces you to the worst thing about you. the thing that keeps you up at night the thing that you didn't choose for yourself. then you find out angels aren't merciful. they're ruthless. they're soldiers. they want to raze a whole town. the same town that's in the line of fire of an all-powerful demon. you can stop the demon. the worst thing about you, the one that was forced onto you? you can do something good with it and save the town. your brother doesn't want you to. you have no choice. you stop the demon. your brother looks at you like you're a monster. he can only see the thing that is Wrong with you. not the thing that you did that was good. it doesn't matter what you do. it only matters what you are.

I'll always maintain that Sam's psychic powers were his own. Azazel's blood was more about giving himself a connection to/control over Sam than the powers themselves.

Drinking demon blood was basically "the dark side." It made it easier for Sam to access his powers, but didn't actually make him more powerful; expedient, not increasing.

As for why they went away after The Cage? Trauma response. Sam locked them away so deep he couldn't access them if he wanted to. It would take a catastrophe to reawaken them.

Do I think it would have been fun for him to lock them away for a few seasons and then have them return? yeah. Does it still make sense within canon as is? also yeah.

soph's ringin' ! : finally posting today! i LOVE this drawing and i did it in about 3 total hours, including my base sketch in my notebook this morning. it took me forever to post because i kept falling asleep mid drawing and im so so tired. but! because i was so excited for this drawing, i wore my winchester bros shirt to school! a boy told me he got his name from one of jensen's characters. me and that boy are friends now. anyway! i love this drawing soooo much! it was so fun to do and it ended up exactly how i wanted it to!! but, as always, thank you so much to the wonderful hosts and other members of the suptober event, you're all awesome. im going to bed now. kay, baii!! 💞✨️🍁

I love the idea of psychic!sam seeing future visions of dean in hell. He doesn’t know when or where, just that he desperately, desperately can’t let it happen. That’s why he’s so adamant about trying to save the other psychic kids. Change their fates. When ruby tells him he could save dean, he knows viscerally just what he’s trying to save him from. What is killing a few more demon possessed vessels, drinking just that much more blood, when sam has to see dean screaming every time he closes his eyes? And dean knows somethings is up, but what is sam supposed to tell him? I watched a man skin you last night? Fuck no. He’ll damn the world and himself before he lets a single demon lay their hands on his brother.

Happy Wincest Wednesday!

Sam's birthday is coming up soon! May 3, so that's Sunday! And so I figured it's probably a good idea to do a Sam appreciation week. So, whatever Sam headcanon or Sam-centric wincest moment, or even non-wincesty Sam thing is at the front of your mind lately. Just, a chance to focus all the attention on our favorite little brother, without his older sibling stealing the spotlight. Let's talk Sam.

One thing: it's actually May 2, so Saturday. Same day as my anniversary, as it happens 👍

My favorite Sam headcanon is that the psychic stuff was latent. (As suggested by Rosie's mom's dialogue in Salvation.) He was predisposed, and that's why he's (and the other special kids) chosen by Azazel. The blood was a mark and something that could be leveraged to push him darkside, but even without it he'd have some psychic ability. (I wish we'd gotten more positive psychic Sam in later seasons, particularly after American Nightmare.)

I have at times utilized this in sexy telekinetic ways, like holding Dean's body up against a wall or something, but in truth that's not so much a kink for me as it is an interesting little detail or plot device.

My actual favorite thing about psychic Sam is thinking about younger Sam's psychic potential. I love to give him prophetic nightmares and ~vibes~. I love when he's a kinda scary kid and Dean loves him anyway. I love when he's allergic to salt and crosses. I love when John doesn't want him around hunters because they'll start to notice something is ~off~. I love when Sam isn't really telekinetic except when Dean's in danger. Every time I watch Salvation I wish Sam could've picked up that gun with his goddamn mind, and have to remind myself that it might've ended the show. Maybe he couldn't pick it up because...it was John.

I have a little canon-adjacent au I like to think about where Sam makes money on the road by doing tarot. He doesn't actually get psychic readings from tarot, but he's intuitive and good at faking — and sometimes he touches a client and gets a vision. Unfortunately, the vision is always bad.

Dean tries to keep the visions a secret from John — because he doesn't want John to worry; because he doesn't want SAM to worry; because he wants to ignore the problem until it goes away — but John is a suspicious motherfucker. And he's also keeping some truths hidden from his boys — like the fact that some demons he's run into have blabbed about prophecies and boykings.

And I like to think that, because of the blood, no matter how hard Sam prayed the rosary lightly burning him, his prayers went directly to Lucifer.

And on the topic of his birthday, Sam has a lot of bad associations to it. Mainly that he and Dean have both died around it. It takes awhile after Chuck is defeated to actually give in to the idea of celebrating it with Dean.

...and then he has a nightmare.

Spn pilot au, Sam's powers started on his birthday, it's been almost 6 months of things randomly being thrown around the room, hearing others thoughts, dreaming of things before they happen, not dealing with it well

Brady of course hasn't been the same the past 2 years. He's not in school anymore. Sam's working, going to school, and trying to help Brady with his drinking/drug problem.

Brady has also taken to hitting Sam and gaslighting Sam.

Sam just accepts it because he really does love Brady and has the "I can fix him" mentality.

Brady encourages Sam to test out his powers and while Sam is getting good at everything he's scared.

He accidentally projects his thoughts/feelings/some images to Dean who's hundreds of miles away

Dean doesn't tell John. He just gets in the car and heads for Palo Alto because that wasn't a dream, it felt too real and in their life/line of work. He knows better than to not go with a gut feeling.

He shows up pilot style blah blah blah and Brady isn't happy like not one bit. Sam tells Brady that they're gonna talk and that he'll be back in a bit.

Brady getting really possessive of Sam now that Dean's in their apartment. They' start arguing/shoving and Sam tries to pull Brady back away from Dean and Brady ends up swinging on Sam and knocks him down.

Dean's in shock because Sam tells Dean it isn't a big deal and apologizes to Brady who is over there faking how sorry he is and Dean's had it. He ends up pulling his gun on Brady and Sam's yelling for him to put it away and Dean won't have it. He tells Sam that he don't have to go home with him but he ain't staying here with Brady anymore.

Sam tries to say it was an accident and it only happens when he don't get out of Bradys way. It's just a thing that happens.

Dean shoots Brady, well clips his shoulder to send a message.

He orders Sam to go pack and he hates himself for a second because he used his "john" voice and the defeat in Sam's eyes makes him feel worse.

He knows Sam hated when their dad ordered them around but it was for their own good and their own safety.

They leave and Dean hopes Sam will go back home with him but he knows it more than likely won't happen.

Sam tells him that Jess was his best friend and that she moved in with her boyfriend and he don't want to impose on them. He can't move back in the dorms, they won't give him that option this late in the the semester, he asks if Dean can stay with him for a few days, just until he can try to find something.

Dean gets them a room, he tells Sam that he's gonna get them something to eat and he'll be back.

He ends up calling John, he debated it for a good 5 minutes before he dialed his number.

He tells John he's in Palo Alto, that he's with Sam and John starts in if Sam's hurt, if he's ok.

Dean don't tell him about the abilities, one problem at a time.

Instead he tells him that Sam called him, that Sam's been going through it, that his boyfriend had been knocking him around and that the boyfriend had drinking and drug problems, money problems, all kinds of problems that he made it all Sam's problems.

Dean was kinda hoping John would have said something right away.

Anything, it could even be him getting mad at Dean for taking off to Palo Alto to get Sam.

"Is he coming home?"

"I don't think so dad...I mean i was thinking staying out here with him for a while. Help him get back in his feet."
