Another “follow-up” meeting today. No one knows what we’re following up on, but the word is spoken with reverence, like it means something.

Half the sentences dissolve mid-air. Someone says “we should revisit that” and then never does. I sit there, cold, tired, trying to look like a person and not a collapsing government file.
