On 29 July 1565, the marriage took place by Roman Catholic rites in Mary's private chapel at Holyrood. Darnley was his wife's first cousin through Margaret Tudor, putting both Mary and Darnley high in the line of succession for the English throne. Darnley was also a descendant of a daughter of James II of Scotland, and so also in line for the throne of Scotland.
@pullingstriings braved the city to leave a message: I saw nothing. I mean, I totally saw everything. But I won’t tell anyone. (for yen, it's your fault for putting her cute face on the dash)
"And just what did you think you saw?" She was trying not to panic, trying to keep her cool given what had just happened. There was no way she could explain it if he asked. Hell, she couldn't even explain it to herself, let alone anyone else. Hopefully, he wouldn't ask for an explanation and she could just brush it off as nothing. Except nothing seemed to be getting worse each week and she knew it was only a matter of time before something worse happened. Or someone witnessed it and reported her to someone. Yen wouldn't even know what to do should that happen. A part of her was hoping it wouldn't get to that point. What would she do? What could she do? Nothing. Which meant she needed to keep playing all of this off as if it was nothing at all. It was better for everyone that way. "I saw nothing. You saw nothing. So I'm not sure what there is to tell people."
