The biggest self-torturing device I see around me are people having obsessive bad thoughts. Whenever you make a mistake or something bad happens, you start obsessing about it over and over in your mind in this private internal freak-out. But think about it this way. If you saw some parent relentlessly picking on their kid in the same way you pick on yourself whenever everything's not perfect in your life, you would probably feel really fucking afraid for that kid.

Lentil lovers gather up! Mark your calendars! The National Lentil Festival is in Pullman, WA on August 16th and 17th this year. From their web page they offer sporting events, brews, the Lentil Lane Food Court, cooking competitions, and a monster vat of lentil chili among other activities served to all. Looks like a good healthy time to be had by all...diabetic friendly, too!
