// here we go
I want to talk about when people refuse to tag triggers. I’m not talking about forgetting. I totally get that and even sometimes forget some myself despite the fact that adding tws has basically become a habit that I do automatically. Refusing to even try is what I’m talking about. Saying it’s pointless and all that. But like???
Helping someone avoid harm and take care of themselves is never pointless. Taking care of each other never is. It’s being kind and respecful and compassionate and having empathy. You’re acknowledging someone’s comfort and pain.
Movies have trigger warnings, shows have them, games have them. And this site that lists tws literally has stuff for books too. It has 70+ categories. They are there. And even if someone asks you to tag it just because it makes them uncomfortable and not because it’s a trigger-- okay??? And?? Still an empathy and being nice to each other thing! Yes, the world is harsh but??? It doesn’t have to be. Part of that is caring about each other.
Don’t ask them why they want something tagged just because you want to know if it’s important enough to tag. People don’t owe you their trauma history.
And like?? Most people with triggers I’ve met do their best to take care of themselves! I personally have blacklisted over 40 words related to my triggers and the list is even longer on twi//tter. Both lists grow every day as people come up with new words for shit related to it. Why not try to help them?
If you really don’t want to tag it, you can always add a list of possibly triggering themes that appear a lot on your blog in your rules page so people can choose not to follow your blog. So simple!
To add to this, what pisses me off is when people who say in their rules that they refuse to tag a trigger follow people who ask others to tag those exact triggers. Why I feel this way should be pretty self explanatory.
