oh  my  god.

I've  started  rereading  harry  potter  for  the  4th  time because  I've  always  wanted  to  play  HERMIONE  &I  want  a  good  grip  on  her  character  &  otherwise,I'd  love  to  give  ASTORIA  GREENGRASS  a  try  &  ifnot  that  too,  maybe  Arabella  Figg.  MAYBE.

i. Their first year is coming up and he can't help but be both anxious and excited. Eager to prove his worth ashis father's heir, though there's a little nuisance of asister to consider...

"Draca!" he's stumbling over the barely finished robes as he tries to run from her, ignoring the sound of MadamMalkin trying to calm the rambunctious twins down intheir games. 

She catches him eventually, as she always does, and plants a kiss on his cheek which he wipes away withone sleeve. 

ii. He's been injured and she's one of the first to comesee him. It's no surprise, but the familiar presence issomething comforting to say the least. 

There's a muttered complaint about Potter, and her laugh makes him smile, though he hides it against hershoulder. Just as he hides how he relaxes at the gentlekiss she gives to his bad arm. 

At least he wasn't alone, and for that he was thankful. 

iii. "It's not like you can take your sister to the ball." The joke makes him roll his eyes, but he blushes a bitas she was right. Even if she was one of few peoplehe was comfortable around, he couldn't very well takehis sister as his date. 

"Promise me you'll tell me who you plan to take?"

"I promise." 

There's a familiar kiss to his cheek, and he's calm fornow. Shoulders going lax as he smiles, small but genuine.

iv. "What are you going to do?" 

The voice makes him tense, not wanting her to be here.Not with what was going on, with father in Azkaban andknowing what was going to be expected of their family. To make up for their father's failure. 

He'd already made a choice to take full responsibility. After all, he couldn't leave his sister with the weight ofwhat the Dark Lord wanted of them.

"I'm going to do what he wants, what else is there forme to do?"

"We could run? You could say no? You could let mehelp." 

"I won't let you ruin yourself for father's mistakes, Draca.You and mother can get out of this—" get out alive. "I'lldo what he asks." 

Her hands are on his cheeks, and he half expects her toslap him for being so stupidly stubborn. "I'm going to helpyou, because you're my brother. I don't care if it means I'm going down with you." 

There's a tear stained kiss to his forehead, and it feelslike his skin is on fire where she touches him. 

v. They're alive.

They'd made it out of this alive, and he doesn't even thinktwice before running to his mother and sister. Before holdingthem tight, and he knows it's childish but he can't look athis father at that moment. Not after what he'd been through the past two years. 

He doesn't think he'll ever get over the war. 

Draca's holding him tight and he feels like he's going to fallapart at the seams. Before anything can be said he feelshis mother tugging them along, trying to make a break fromthe crowd before anyone notices. Before Voldemort realizesthe Malfoy's are defecting. 

The movement surprises him, but he's just thankful to have Draca holding his hand, kissing the back of it gently. He leaned over to kiss her cheek, knowing it's the first time since childhood that he'd shown such an affectionate gesture.

They were alive though, alive and free—provided the war didn't end in the dark lords favour.
