Hmm top 5 brazilian foods
ID: Another ask by them that says, "Sushi soup doesn't count btw". End ID
You know just because of that I was going to include only nonsense Brazilian food but then you asked for my top 5 of that so fuck you. Anyway let's go, top 5 serious brazilian food. Fuck you for making me choose btw
5. Basically anything from Minas Gerais, but since I'm having to choose, I'll to with frango com quiabo (chicken with okra)
I love basically every food from the state of Minas Gerais (tutu de feijão my beloved) but this one might be my favorite, simple as it is. It is basically chicken parts stewed in a tomato broth with okra. I'm a sucker for okra, and also chicken, and also stew, so you know. Heaven. Absolutely amazing
ID: Pan with chicken with okra seen from above. The stew has a deep brownish-red color, with chicken parts (including legs) and a lot of okra floating. End ID
4. Farofa (ground cassava fried in butter with Anything You Want, added as a side dish along with rice and beans to pretty much anything)
Not a dish as much as something you put on your plate but I don't care!!! Everything with cassava automatically fucks of course but farofa (of anything) is just next level brilliancy. The way we have a dish part just to add crunch to the rest... Mwah. I'm not even a fan of crunchy over creamy but farofa just makes everything a thousand times better, from the consistency to the taste (ily carbs i love youuu) and it's literally genius that we created that and that's the honest-to-god truth. Especially with pimenta biquinho, which is the best pepper ever, hands down
ID: Plate of farofa. It is a grainy yellow thing with parts of ingredients (in this case, banana da terra). There are three pimenta biquinhos, which are tiny, round, red peppers with a tip resembling a beak, on top. End ID
3. Arroz com pequi (rice with pequi, which is a yellow fruit)
I, like most people, don't know how to describe what pequi tastes like. You have to try it. It's kinda sweet and kinda savory and kinda bittersweet in my opinion, and it has a very strong taste. It's a "love or hate" kinda fruit/dish, and to me it's absolute love, no questions asked. It even looks beautiful! Completely worth the thorns, altho I, admittedly, am a big city bitch and have only ever had pequi bought preserved
Still, look at this beauty
ID: A pot of arroz com pequi. Pequi is a yellow fruit, which is cut into parts and added to the rice, turning the rice itself yellow. End ID
No choice but to stan
2. Coxinha de frango com requeijão (deep fried potato batter stuffed with shredded chicken and requeijão, a type of brazilian cheese resembling a more creamy cream cheese)
Look at these beauties
ID: A batch of coxinhas, which are small, golden, round snacks with a triangular tip. The one at the front is cut in the middle, showing the inside filled with shredded chicken and requeijão, which is white and creamy. End ID
It must be frango com requeijão, though, or else it drops several places on my list. Even just chicken without requeijão doesn't hit the same. TBH requeijão could easily have its own place in this list, we really went off with that guy. This is usually served at birthday parties and it's a must, but it's so popular you can basically find in any bar. Traditionally it can fit in your palm, but following the endless Brazilian tradition of being insane about food, there are places that sell coxinhas that weight up to 5kg. I like the palm-sized guys though. You can have many of them and if I'm being honest, the tip which is usually just batter is the absolute best part
1. Moqueca de banana da terra (banana da terra stew made with dende oil and coconut milk)
Fuck yeah moqueca of any kind, but particularly banana da terra, which is a type of banana, but less sweet and more consistent than most, which makes it ideal to be used for several dishes.
Look at her
ID: A stone pot filled with moqueca. The stew is very creamy and orange, and the plate is very colorful with the yellow banana, red pepper, and green herbs. End ID
How can I describe moqueca. It's the best thing you'll ever taste. So fucking delicious and rich in flavor and the consistency is amazing and fuck, I just had breakfast and my mouth is already watering just thinking about it. I love her. She's my babygirl. She's my reason to live. She's a beauty
It's usually served with rice and farofa, as most things in Brasil are, but without the beans. God it's absolutely amazing. Fuck. I want moqueca now
Anyway ask me for my top 5 anything cuz I'm doing this ask game. I'm so hungry now. Fuck
