ok, so this might sound dumb, but it works for me when I'm trying to fall asleep but can't shut my mind off - try closing your eyes and counting backwards slowly from 100 down to 0 and like visualizing the numbers in your mind as you do it - for me concentrating on the image of the numbers stops my mind from thinking about 80 million other things and I always fall asleep before I hit 0

that doesn’t sound dumb at all! I will def try that tonight if I can’t get to sleep. thanks for the tip :)

I'm honestly kinda peeved I didn't get that book for A level because I would've loved to analyse it properly! I... honestly know nothing about Walker, but I totally get your reservations

it was amaaaaaazing. and for once analysing it made me appreciate it more in terms of symbolism and intent. there is a lot of great literature out there about the book and I remember reading a bunch of different articles that were really fascinating.

and tbh it’s a complex issue that I have a problem with her about (the practice of female genital cutting) and how her view on it was so clearly westernised and therefore skewed in a certain way.

Yes. There is a wonderful female character when the show starts played by Taraji Henson. And from the moment Shaw & Root show up their dynamic is captivating. Root dying is a very unfortunate ending, but I think their amazing relationship is totally worth that disappointment. Plus the acting and mythology in the show is exceptional for all 5 seasons.

oh yes! i forgot taraji is also in the show. I love strong female characters played by amazing women. Glad to hear it’s a genuinely good show because although root/shaw is what originally caught my attention, i want to actually enjoy the plot and get involved with the storyline too. thanks so much for the info! probably going to start binge watching today

I don’t think they want to. they want to keep us in the dark  bou nyssa but at least talia was mentioned, even if it was in a flashback. nyssa wasn’t mentioned at all and that got me pissed. I have a feeling she’s still live tho. because otherwise why shroud it in mystery? it makes little sense to me but then again - nothing the arrow writers have done since season 3 have really made sense to me so.

I'd say an 8, but Katie Cassidy scenes fared better, maybe those I'd give a 6

katie had some gr9 scenes that kind of redeemed it (I’m still not over teh line where she says the fishnets thing) but it was still pretty bad, lol.

northeast USA reporting in - scones have gotten more common in this area over the last 5 years or so and while I'm not sure you'd find them at a 3 star hotel, you'd definitely find them at a moderate level restaurant that served breakfast/other pastries - ours look like this https://goo.gl/images/ucZzfm

ah okay gotcha. I looked at the pic and lmao those are not the scones I had in mind (at least in terms of shape) but thanks for telling me it’s mostly uncommon. I think I’ll go with something else haha.

The closest thing to what you call a "scone" from what I understand is what we call "biscuits" and they're far more common in the American South. It's often served with gravy or something savory, too.

O.o yeah I vaguely remember “biscuits” with gravy from when I read gone with the wind, lololol. personally I think such a thing is culinary blasphemy but hey I mean enjoy if you like :P

So tea isn't as common in the USA (I'm guessing you know that???) but it's not rare. I've eaten a scone maybe once in my life. So, at least where I'm from (Midwest), they're uncommon enough I had to look up a picture. A 3 star hotel would more likely serve bagels/pancakes/waffles/muffins I think. Also, with coffee/milk/orange juice/water. There might be tea, but it might be iced tea if they have one of those little cafe type buffets.

yeah I know tea is uncommon, and tht scones are too. I may go for doughnuts (that they picked up a service station along the way?) but thanks for the suggestions :)

right at the beginning of the episode this week while Kara & Alex were decorating Kara's place, Alex repeatedly said "lesbian wedding shower" but I'm not sure about anything prior to this episode

oooh really? see I didn’t watch any of s3 so I didn’t know. but still. the fact that alex came out last season but it’s only now that they’re using the word “lesbian” is kind of ridiculous.
