Push-ups are one of the best and most popular all-around upper body exercises. Why? Because they work a lot of upper body and core muscles, they require no equipment and you can do them anytime and anywhere.
Beginners can modify the move so that it’s easier to perform, while stronger athletes have many options for modifying push-ups to make them more challenging. Check out our 40+ push-up move variation post and video.
A regular push-up program can help build strength and muscle, and combined with other moves, can help you shed extra, unwanted weight and generally just up your overall upper body strength game.

Traveling push-ups... spice up your push workouts
Hi guys,
Push-ups. They are kinda cool because you can do them anywhere with your own body weight as resistance. Some of the muscles worked are: Chest, triceps, shoulders, abs, thighs, glutes… Wow! Aside from the portability factor, it’s a pretty comprehensive exercise.
If you have been doing them for awhile, you know that there are many, many variations to push-ups. You can use a stability ball, staggered hand position, etc. to challenge yourself and to make workouts more fun.
Today my trainer, Karissa Silva, was doing explosive traveling push-ups and I was able to film her.
I love it when she does cool stuff like this because I know it’s coming my way in our next session. I guess I’m a gym dork because I actually get a little giddy thinking about trying something new like this. I can’t wait to get to the gym tomorrow!
Next time you are traveling or don’t have access to a gym, use your own body weight as resistance and just knock out a set or three of push-ups. Drop and give me 20!
