Now that most of the world is in June, I can start posting! (obs days will be weird posting because of Aus time zones lmao). Day one of Puzzle June! I’m aiming to have content for about half of the days (June is a V busy month for me ahaha)

Reunion

Ok, Ty a lil late but, here's day one of Puzzle June! I'm hoping to get caught up bc I had no ideas until I came up w a Ygo Godzilla au. So, Imma try to do an entire month of fics with the Puzzle June themes set in an au where the Ygo crew has special psychic bonds with the Kaiju. So, buckle up kiddos!

Yugi sat in his cabin, the one he had once shared with his Atem, and cried his eyes out. He could feel his pain doubled with Mothra's, but she also tried to soothe. He felt her sad, calm, reassurance that they would come back to them, that Godzilla would come back, and Atem with him.

He could still see that horrible moment, from both his eyes, and Mothra's compound ones. Atem and Godzilla fighting tooth as one over the ocean; Atem somehow landing on the giant lizard king's head after each attack. Ghidorah and its human, a horrible twisted version of Atem's beloved father, commanded lightning strikes and harsh winds. But he remembered the most was that awful moment the oxygen bomb hit, killing his Atem and Mothra's Godzilla.

A sob escaped him as the door opened quietly.

"Yugi, Habibi," Came the soft voice. A voice he knew so well! "We're back."

"Atem!" Yugi glowed as his happiness grew. He grabbed his lover, pulling him into his arms, "How!? You and Zilla flatlined!" He had heard their synchronized heartbeats stop, he remembered as he pressed his ear to listen to that beautiful heartbeat.

"Mother gave her life for us," Atem said softly, sadness in his eyes, "She detonated a nuclear warhead near us to heal us faster."

"I'm so sorry to hear that, Koibito," Yugi replied solemnly, holding Atem close.

Puzzle Reunion

Notes:  For Puzzle June.  Apologies if the ending feels rushed.  I started writing this before work, and work took a lot out of me tonight, and so I am tired.

“Yugi!  Yugi!”

He could hear voices, familiar ones.  Yet all he could see was brightness.  As he looked around, shapes and figures were becoming more clear.

“...Grandpa?  Mom?” Yugi asked quietly as the figures in front of him started to take shape.  As he looked around, the brightness faded away, and he soon found himself supposedly in his room, with his mother and grandpa smiling at him.

“You look as young as ever,” Grandpa Moto said with a smile.  “I’m so glad to see you again!”

Yugi looked down and noticed he was laying down in his bed.  He looked back at his Grandpa and mother and started tearing up.  He hadn’t seen either of them ever since they…

Yugi reached forward and hugged both of them, happy to see them again.  When they broke apart, Yugi sighed.  “Well, I guess it was time.”

Yugi’s mother smiled.  “You accomplished so much in your life.  Your grandpa and I are so proud of you!”

“Indeed,” Grandpa added.  “Although I wish I could have been there for your later years!  Selling your award winning games myself would make me cry!”

Yugi laughed.  “Well, maybe everyone here will play them.  Speaking of which, are they all here?” he asked hopefully.

“Why don’t you find out yourself,” Yugi’s mother said.  Yugi got out of bed and ran downstairs.  Opening the door to outside, Yugi stopped and gazed at the sight before him.

Standing before him were all of his friends.  Joey, Tristan, Tea, Bakura, Duke, Serenity, Mai, Marik, Odion, Ishizu, and Kaiba (though he was looking away).  Yugi’s smile grew larger as he ran up to his friends.  He was then caught by Joey, who gave him a nookie on the head.

“There you are Yug!  Was wondering when you would get here!” Joey said.  As the others gathered around, Yugi got a chance to reunite with everyone, even Kaiba was happy to see Yugi said (even if he won’t admit it).

After a couple moments, Joey stopped talking.  He looked behind Yugi and started smiling with a little chuckle.  Everyone else took notice and looked in that direction.  Yugi was confused as to why everyone stopped and what they were looking at.  When Yugi turned around, he could swear that his heart (or in this case, afterlife heart) stopped.

Standing there was none other than the person Yugi had been longing to see again should this day ever come.  Looking as he did when he was still with Yugi, with the school coat as a cape, and the Millennium puzzle shining brightly attached to the unbreakable chain, representing their bond.

Yugi started walking towards him, and he started walking as well.  Yugi then found himself running towards him, and soon enough, the two joined together in a tight embrace.  Yugi pressed his head against Atem, hearing his steady breathing.  It was the only sound he wanted to hear at the moment.  Yugi had a huge smile on his face as he and Atem continued hugging.

Once the two let go, Yugi and Atem looked at each other.  They stayed that was for a moment before Yugi finally spoke up.  “There… there’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you.  Something I should have told you last time I saw you.”

Atem grabbed Yugi’s hand.  “I already know, partner.”  He then leaned in and gave Yugi a kiss, with Yugi kissing back.  Once the kiss was over, Yugi sighed.  “You know me better than anyone.  I love you.”

“I love you too.”
