Liger, Rocky, SHO & YOH in PWX 7/7/2019; Administrative Note for This Weekend; This Week’s NJPW on AXS: Reminder of New Day/Time
Several NJPW wrestlers, none of whom are in G1 Climax 29, performed at PWX Legend this past Sunday night 7/7/2019 at the Grady Cole Center in Charlotte, NC. The main event saw Jushin Thunder Liger, billed as his final match in NC, team with “Fully Gimmicked” Ethan Case & “The Southern Savior” John Skyler in a winning effort against Caleb Konley, Zane Riley & “The Man Scout” Jake Manning (I’ve seen Manning, his gimmick is kinda funny). All three members of Roppongi 3K were in action too, as Rocky Romero beat Harlem “Globetrotter” Bravado in a singles match, whilst SHO & YOH defeated a team of Drew Adler & Tracer X. Ironically, Brian Pillman Jr. was on this show as well; you may recall Pillman’s late father had a legendary match or two with Liger in WCW. From all reports, the show drew 646 which was PWX’s all-time attendance (and merch) record. Good for them! (Pic above from Bodyslam.Net)
G1 Climax 29 restarts this weekend, however I won’t be able to blog about it until Sunday night, due to some commitments I have relating to my move, which is still in progress. Indeed, I probably won’t even be able to watch the matches until it shows on AXS later that night....
Which on THAT note, here’s your final reminder: NJPW on AXS moves to Saturdays at 9pm EDT / 8pm CDT starting this Saturday. The matches are all due to be same-day coverage of Saturday’s B Block matches, and they are promising that all Saturday G1 shows will be same-day coverage as well. Advertised matches are Jon Moxley v. Taichi, and Hirooki Goto v. Jay White, however it is also a 2-hour episode this week so count on all five B Block matches being shown.
