Mountains can have different shapes depending on how they were formed. Pyramidal peaks are created when multiple glaciers meet and erode the mountain from three sides. The best example of a pyramidal peak around Mount Rainier is the aptly named Pyramid Peak. It can be easily viewed from along the Paradise Road looking west. Have you noticed this peak when visiting the park?

Washed Away by James Marvin Phelps Via Flickr: Death Valley Memories Washed Away Pyramid Peak Death Valley National Park California April 2010 Tucked in a wash just north of CA-190, between Death Valley Junction and Furnace Creek, this weathered old sedan sits on the approach to Jupiter Canyon and Pyramid Peak. Likely a leftover from the region's mining days, it was probably abandoned or swept away by a flash flood long ago. Now, it's just a beautiful, rusty piece of desert history.

Pyramid Peak: The Weird Rebellion of Polish Movie Posters
These are the strangest movie posters ever made. From Citizen Kane to Star Wars, the Polish versions of these posters are surreal, haunting, and sometimes completely unrecognizable. But the reason why these Cold War era posters are so unique might be more interesting. I had a lot of fun diving into how government censorship accidentally created one of the craziest art movements in the world: The Polish School of Posters.

I headed out on a short backpacking trip. The route followed old mining road and passed through the ruins of a briefly thriving community. From there, I stopped by the lake, climbed to the top of the nearby peak, then dropped to a second lake for the night.
