A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K LeGuin. It's the best book in the world, and she is amazing.
I've been meaning to pick it up for the longest time. I think I just may have to now! Thank you for the recommendation!

This is you 31.media.tumblr.com/8e0…
yeah, actually, that's pretty accurate
What do you have in common with Nightcrawler?
Both Catholic and very self-conscious about our appearance.
What's your favourite pen & paper RPG?
"Imagine a world designed by Kafka, Stalin, Orwell, Huxley, Sartre and the Marx Brothers... "
Caveat is a word from Latin, literally 'let a person beware', meaning a warning or proviso of specific stipulations, conditions, or limitations. A Cravat is a stylish neck garment commonly made from patterned silk LOL
I did not know that. I thought you had just come up with a wonderful new term, similar to a thinking cap. Hell I think it would be a excellent fashion choice. But hey, if you want to be all swanky and Latin-knowing and whatnot you go ahead,
quantumblog replied to your post: This is a very late response to something but I just wanted to say something about your Varys commentary from episode 4 (the scene with his backstory). I remember one of you guys saying that it is too revealing for Varys to openly explain all of this and a mischaracterization, but actually that is how he tells his story in ACoK to Tyrion (Chapter 45 with the prologue counted), with the “I hate magic” bits and all. Only the setting and the context (and the presence of the sorcerer) are different.
For me the presence of the Sorceror makes a massive difference. Disclosing some of your past makes you vulnerable, but if you are standing over your gagged tormentor it sends a totally different message…not “I hate magic because of a trauma I experienced” but instead “Look dwarf, anyone who crosses me ends up shipped across Essos in a crate to be tortured to death” which pretty much reverses the dynamic of the scene
Good point!
