Happy Mother's Day everyone. We didn't take a perfect picture. We took a random photo while playing on the floor. Before Shuri was born, I didn't plan on having children and was quite content with being childless. A lot of my apprehensions stem from my strained relationship with my own mother and I was scared that I would also have a tumultuous relationship with my kids. I love my little monster. She's so smart and emotionally mature. She understands more than what I sometimes give her credit for. She's so happy and her happiness makes me and her dad happy. She's so loving—her random hugs and kisses make the hard days much easier. Honestly, because of her, I'm making it through this Coronavirus pandemic. I just pray and hope I can be a good mom to her now and forever. I wrote this all to say it's ok if you don't have a good relationship with your mom and it's ok to fear passing those concerns down.
