Ophelia: (In Windenburgian) Dinner was lovely, ma’am. And thank you so much, Martha, for inviting me.
Martha: How could I not? Jonie practically begged me.
Jonas: I did not, you’re exaggerating, like usual.
Martha: And you’re lying, like usual
Albert: And you’re both bickering, like usual. You can’t even pretend to be more civilized in front of our guest?
Ophelia: Don’t worry about it, I have two siblings, I know what we’re like.
Agathe: Your Windenburgian is perfect, my dear I must say.
Victor: Near perfect…. But yes, very good.
Ophelia: Thank you. Mama has always said that as the future leader of our people, I should be able to speak with them all fluently in their own tongues.
Agathe: Your mother is very wise.
Victor: If not very amenable.
Ophelia: What do you mean?
Martha: So what are you thinking for colors? I think red is a good and traditional choice, and it’s the Imperial color, but pink suits you, and it's so much more romantic.
Albert: Not to mention, it would be a nod to the Windenburg colors, which would be polite and diplomatic.
Ophelia: I’m sorry? Colors?
Martha: Yours and Jonas’?
Ophelia: Oh… but… well… we’re not engaged?
Jonas: Please ignore my sister, she’s certifiably insane.
Martha: Real nice, Jonie.
Jonas: If you don’t stop calling me “Jonie”-
Martha: You’ll what? Run away? Be my guest.
Jonas: You’re acting like a child, and you have a teenaged son! Don’t you think it’s time to grow up?
Victor: Enough! All of you. Martha, it is your birthday and I don’t want it spoiled, but I will send everyone home seeing as this is my property if you don’t act your age and stop bickering with your brother. Jonas, you are a grown man. I expect you to act like it.
Agathe: Our apologies dear.
Ophelia: Oh, no it’s fine…
(A few moments of awkward silence)
Eugene: Can I have a glass of wine?
Martha & Albert: (in unison) No!
Victor: Why not? He’s a growing boy. He’ll be king one day, he needs to put some hair on his chest.
Martha: Father, no, he’s 15.
Victor: So, how do you like the cabin, Ophelia?
Ophelia: Oh, it’s lovely. Very cozy.
Victor: Isn’t it? But there’s plenty of space for a family. Secluded but only 30 minutes from the nearest city. When I die, Martha gets the country and the palace, but this cabin is passed down in my family through sons. It can be yours and Jonas’ Windenburg home, when you visit from the Empire.
Jonas: Martha gets the Palace, and Windslar, and I get…. The cabin?
Agathe: We only call it the cabin because it’s in the mountains, but it’s the size of a mansion. Of course your father will give you an estate, right Victor?
Agathe: But this house will be a wonderful place to bring your family. So much space for all the twins and triplets.
Agathe: Ophelia’s family has many twins and triplets. You will probably have some too.
Jonas: My whole family is insane…
