I have this angsty headcanon that before Cedric met Sofia, Queen lorelei was the only one person in the whole kingdom who never treated him unfairly. She treated him with so much kindness, support, she was always fascinated with his magic, and she was the only one who made him happy for the first time in his life. But as time went on, eventually Cedric realized that not only he developed so much care for her and appreciated her kindness but he also fell in love with her. He wanted to be with her so badly but unfortunately he knew that he could never confess his feelings to her because she was married to Roland. So he kept his true feelings secret but that was still ok to him because he knew that as long as she was still part in his life, then that was good enough for him… but then there was the time when Roland decided to wish for Lorelei to have children by using the magic wishing well. Cedric KNEW about the serious outcomes and begged Roland to not make the wish cuz he knows that this could effect Lorelei, Roland however refused to listen to him cuz he thought Cedric was overreacting or lying, so he still made the wish anyway, and thus… Lorelei ends up passing away after James and Amber were born. Lorelei’s death was the final straw for Cedric, not only his heart became so heartbroken but it’s also what caused him to become villainous, it’s what also made him develop a huge hate against Roland and wanting to take the kingdom as revenge. He lost the one person who truly cared about him, the woman who he deeply fell in love with. Her death effected him so badly that it was reason why he refused to befriend Sofia in the first seasons, because he was scared to get attached to anyone else, he never wanted to go thru that pain of losing someone ever again. Like the way how Cedric called Roland out when he said “so did you…” makes me feel that he meant queen Lorelei’s passing. Not only he sounded angry but also hurt 😭

Disney Jr Germany has posted a promo clip for Sofia the First: Royal Magic featuring new clips.

These include:

- Miss Nettle using her wand to open a storybook just like the 3 good fairies did in the original series

- Miss Nettle at Charmswell in a new outfit (same color but with pants instead of a dress)

- Charmswell students being magically given backpacks

- Zane playing a mandolin (I believe, sorry if it’s a different string instrument)

- Many more clips of Queen Miranda

- A portrait of what appears to be Queen Lorelei shown in the background of Enchancia Castles interior

- Cedric and Sofia hugging

while holding the title of royal sorcerer, goodwyn the great saved his king’s life 9+ times. once the position was passed down, cedric failed to save his queen.

 This moment in the Forever Royal Flashback sequence is really cute but also just so sad in context.  He's holding Miranda’s face so lovingly, he looks happy but at the same time there's something else, indicated by the shape of his brows. And this acts as a parallel…

 Because a few seconds previously in the flashback we see him years beforehand with Lorelei's dead body, arranged for a funeral. As he walks up to her, he reaches his hand out towards her face looking like he's about to touch her face. But then he takes his hand back and just leans over her in mourning with his hands bracing himself at the side of her bed instead.

 It’s only two seconds but I think it really implies how much he loved Lorelei, and how her death was so deeply sorrowful for him. Yet years later he is able to fall in love with Miranda, as the narration says, and they find new love and happiness in each other.
