I've read the book (I mean it was a long time ago but still) and yeah, I didn't remember that but do you know HOW rare it is to find someone who would actually do that since it carries criminal charges and yes, the charges still apply even if the person is an amputee. I'm just sort of pointing out how implausible that part of the book is.
