“Annie Jump Vicente, a well-known West Hollywood transgender rights advocate and founder of Trans Rescue Action Los Angeles, was physically attacked by two delivery drivers and used pepper spray to defend herself following a verbal altercation regarding them speeding in the alley where she was walking her dog.
She was wrongfully arrested, held long after her $30,000 bail had been posted, and then arraigned on 03/04 with bail having been raised to $100,000.
We need to raise $7,000 more to meet the $10,000 necessary to pay off the bail bondsman. Annie is also currently without representation and a lawyer will cost an additional $5,000 to retain, meaning we're aiming to raise $12,000 total to aid in bringing Annie home and fighting this case.
Annie Jump Vicente fights tirelessly for the rights of disadvantaged communities in Los Angeles and beyond, and it's time for our community to do the same for her.”

“The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is laying off over 20% of its workforce, roughly 47 dedicated employees, at a time when the LGBTQ+ community needs protection and security the most. These layoffs come just weeks after Donald Trump’s second inauguration, during a period of escalating attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, including executive orders restricting gender-affirming care and suppressing LGBTQ+ visibility in schools.
These critical programs are either being dropped completely due to all staff within these programs being laid off or will be highly affected by these layoffs:
• Trans Justice Initiative Program (TJI) – Providing advocacy and direct support for transgender and nonbinary individuals.
• Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Program – Addressing the unique challenges faced by Black LGBTQ+ students.
• HIV Health and Equity Program (HIV) – Supporting people living with and affected by HIV.
• Youth Well-Being Program (YWB) – Protecting and uplifting LGBTQ+ youth.
• All Children - All Families Program (ACAF) – Fighting for LGBTQ+ youth in the child welfare system.
• Global Partnerships – Working with advocates across the globe to champion LGBTQ+ rights and equality.
Why This Fund Matters
The staffers being laid off are the heart and soul of LGBTQ+ advocacy, fighting discriminatory legislation, supporting marginalized communities, and ensuring access to vital services. Now, they are being forced into an unstable job market while facing a hostile political landscape.
Funds raised will go directly to helping the lowest-earning impacted employees cover living expenses, healthcare, and job transitions as they navigate this difficult time. Participation will be opt-in for those in need, in exchange for not signing HRC's NDA, and support will be provided until individuals secure stable employment and health insurance. Any unused funds will be donated to Point of Pride to provide gender-affirming care to those in need.

“Hello, my name is Alex and I am looking for help during some financial struggles. I have been looking for work for a while now, since my husband had top surgery, and was hoping to find a job to offset his loss of income during the recovery period and to resource us better afterward as the costs of living continue to rise, but I have been having a difficult time trying to find safe work as a Covid-cautious trans woman of color. The goal I'm trying to meet would help me catch up on bills and debt that have built up while I’ve been looking for work, and would help me not have to worry about basic survival needs being met while I continue to look for the right opportunity.
For those of you still here, thank you for reading! I am a second-generation native Mexican who was raised in Central California and grew up working on farms and in fields. I learned firsthand from a young age the significance of community in society that’s set up to abandon and disregard our most marginalized members. This belief has inspired me to always be an active member of my community. I am a member of my local mask bloc, delivering free masks to anyone in need. I also donate to our local community fridges and food banks whenever I have the opportunity and means to do so. It’s deeply important to me to be able to provide support to the people around me, and I am hopeful that now, I can lean on my community for support during this transitional time.”
