theyre like. Working together not just existing in the same universe but like. the main big bad is what this poll is asking
Seeing people ask and talk about pokemon that I should have a small section on my crossbreed posts on whether it's safe to breed them.
my copy of tomodachi life arrives on wednesday... put funny kreechurs under this that should go on my island pretty please
Wait so can I comm u to write my ocs??? 😭😭😭
YOU hold the key to my fucking JAIL CELL and when I get out of here I swear to god-
(There is enough space between the comically wide bars that I could simply walk out but I am, notably, not doing that)
Hi! Thank you for the thorough answer - I'm still a little too shy to come off anon 🫣 but basically I love how you write the Metaphor cast and their characterization. I have an OC I made for Metaphor and I've commissioned fics of other OCs I've made for other games so I was just wondering if that was something you'd be open to doing 🥹
Ohh thank you for saying so 🥰 I scrutinized tons of Basilio dialogue to get him right, I'm glad it landed lol.
It mmmmmmight be. I owe a (very late) birthday/xmas gift to a friend, and chipping away at our novel takes precedence in most of my spare time otherwise, but I tend to write longform content (like ~30k) and it could be a good exercise, if nothing else, to be made to write smaller things. That's not a yes and it's not a no, it's pretty holistically just a "maybe" hah. Is it the same oc that sort of 'universe hops' as you also migrate fandoms, or one unto mrf itself alone? In any case, existing writing for them is the best possible thing to feed me. Pictures are cool and all, and useful enough, but they don't tell me nearly as much about a character as I can glean from a solid few paragraphs of writing (especially dialogue. Dialogue is sooooo yummy and important for getting personality across.)
My honest answer is "I probably won't have time or energy to commit to something", but don't let that dissuade you from pitching it anyway, or just chatting w me in general; @barasuishou n' me became really good friends because they just randomly walked into my living room dm's and started talking to me one day like we'd always been friends, and I roll with stuff like that very easily lol. (And I did that to @pepsiiwho, and now we have a suicide pact and in-progress novel together.) Life sure takes you in unexpected directions sometimes!
Would you be open to fic commissions...?
Like for money, or as a trade, or of an existing IP vs someone's oc's? Short answer: Ooof.
Long answer:
The first thing is hairy because there's a lof of bullshit litigation that authors are held to which artists are not; an artist can boldly and openly sell fanart across multiple robust platforms, whilst a writer attempting the same could bring ao3 crashing down (and we have very few platforms "just" for us.) And I would like to post said comm publically, lest someone paid out the absolute ass for an NDA, so.
This image link of a taco copypasted itself into my post from my clipboard so that's point two, check it out:
Anyway point three: I have to know the fandom, and know it *well*, not passingly or many years gone stale. This coincides generally with my interests at the time, which come and go. Some fandoms are a bit more evergreen than others, for me, but if I don't know about something more than surface level? Won't usually write for it because I'd have nothing gripping or nuanced to say.
As a trade? Mmn. The selfish answer is that I have to like the other person's art or writing enough to *want* to do a trade. I've done them in the past, but the reflection I've mostly come to is "I could have just paid for this and saved myself way way more hours of time and effort."
Of someone's oc's? That actually interests me more, however it'd require the requester to work with me pre emptively; to show me that THEY know what their characters' voices are and how they'd behave/react. If you don't know your own character, I sure won't either, and writing a blob of vague concepts is frustrating and unfulfilling on my end.
The biggest points are that... honestly I'm quite bad about forcing myself to care about fandoms or things I'm not interested in at the current time, and that I'm already devoting a lot of time and effort to my current shared novel with my co author, which I heavily prioritize.
That all isn't a hard *no*, but it's a "it rrrrreally depends...." Money doesn't move me, so I need to fuck w/ the concept at a baseline for any writing commission to have a chance at getting me to bite.
Your best bet is just dropping something in my inbox and seeing if it grabs me; I need fuel in order to burn, if that makes sense. "Write Hypnos fucking!" Ehhhh. Did that already. "Do you think you could write a little thing about Hypnos attempting to reconnect with his mother shortly after they've made up? The convo would be stilted and kind of forced, but more than either has said to the other in decades. The topic of Zagreus as a mutual point of adoration and jealousy, respectively, should come up." Ok now I'm listening, because YOU'VE fed ME something to start with.
