best quality: he’s not as emotionally constipated or closed off as like most other nations?? He’s like actually open and willing to discussing philosophy, emotions, and other life’s big questions with pretty much everyone, and is rather thoughtful and sentimental at times!

worst quality: Besides being an insufferable snooty colonizer it’s prbly his flighty and fickle affections? I think a trait he shares with Spain is that he can be irregular with his treatment of ppl, particularly w the children he raised. He basically alternated between cycles of flooding them with attention, praise, as well as criticism, and then forgetting at other times. He also withholds affection from ppl he’s close with as a way to punish them. As a result, he’s not exactly the most dependable person/parent...

my senegal oc isnt super developed yet but i think senegal is such a fascinating and interesting country, so here’s what i have so far! Note that I headcanon her being Wolof at her core!

best quality: Her composure! It shows in her daily life, where she'll always go out dolled out, even for a grocery trip. Her personal image is important to her, and it's crucial that she presents a dignified and respectable image. Even under the most dire circumstances, she keeps it together, and continues to properly manage her responsibilities and priorities.

worst quality: She's a businesswoman at heart, and as a result, is sometimes very transactional with people, particularly with people she doesn't trust or doesn't know well. This doesn't mean she's cold to them, it's just that on some level, she's somewhat emotionally distant from them (and probably always will be); as a result, she's not exactly above using people or etc. ship them with: Mali (ex-wives fiveva) brotp them with: Mali, Gambia (her sweet baby son boy even if he does give her trouble at times), Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Burkina Faso

needs to stay away from: France (they have close relations but her feelings on him are complicated), England, Mauritania misc. thoughts: Owns ridiculous amounts of gold jewelry. A great storyteller and has many tales memorized! Gambia and Mali are among few people who have seen her affectionate and more emotional side. Sometimes joins in on Ghana and Nigeria's Jollof Wars- after all, the word Jollof literally named after her. Loves sports and wrestling, and a fantastic dancer and singer! Encountered Portugal in the Age of Exploration and thought he was kinda weird, but he did good business so eh. (havent researched this part enough, but during the atlantic trade era it was very common for powerful wolof/other ethnicities women to either marry or be in relationships w european men, usually french or portuguese, for mercantile purposes, so i think smth like that factors into her relationships with those two) Quite possibly the most terrifying haggler in this side of the continent.
